Volunteer to help rescue and rehabilitate abused and neglected Mustangs and horses and help them recover and get ready for a better life! This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
Looking for an experience of a lifetime? Then take this amazing opportunity and venture to the beautiful seacoast area of Maine, where the Wild Horse Center is located. Here they provide in abundance; care, rehabilitation and nurturing for previously adopted horses and rescued wild Mustang, and transitions them to new homes and useful lives, or offers life-time care to unadoptable horses!

The Center is considered to be home and refuge for a numerous amount of horses that were at one point unwanted, neglected and abused. These magnificent creatures are in deep need of your help! Volunteer for a duration of 4 weeks at this great project in Maine and care for the horses, clean their stables, feed them, wash them, socialize with them and go for horse rides! The work with the wild horses is by no means an’ easy holiday option’ and you will be involved in animal care, food preparation, cleaning, maintenance and educating the public.

Due to the Center’s convenient location, it is considered to be a tourist area and thus opens up a wide range of recreational activities and boundless attractions to see and get involved in.

This is Why!
  • Help at Mustang Rescue, ME Training and Education Center, and get involved with these amazing and beautiful creatures!
  • Learn and assist with the care and rehabilitation of wild Mustangs!
  • Educate the public.
  • Go Horse riding!
  • Assist with training Wild horses to help them prepare for a second chance in life!

When we rescue horses from abusive and neglectful environments, they are often at the brink of death. The goal is to nurse them back to health, tame and train them so they have a chance at being adopted in to a loving home. The majority of them can indeed be tamed, trained and adopted – others cannot. The horses that cannot be tamed are known to be “wild at heart” and the project “will never force them to work with them and be tame if they don’t want to”. These wild horses live out their days at the center because their chances of being adopted are minimal.

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Volunteers must commit for 4 weeks.
  • Dedication to the work, purpose, mission, and philosophy of the organization.
