Volunteers at the Wildlife Conservation project in Sri Lanka are the backbone of the organization. They supply the main force behind the project's mission to enable communities to balance ecosystem protection and economic development by pioneering a model for sustainable conservation. As a volunteer, you will actively participate in the daily routine of the facility by participating in the following activities:
The Fee includes:
The volunteers need to fly into and depart from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). There you will need to take an airport registered taxi from the airport to a hotel in Colombo where you will spend the night. Contact us for hotel recommendations. The next day volunteers will be met at the hotel by one of the project associates who will transfer them to the Fort Railway Station and make sure that they are safely onboard the right train to Kandy (Volunteers must take the 7am train). There volunteers will be met by one of the project’s staff and will board the bus with them to go to the project site.
Accommodation is provided in gender based shared dormitory style lodgings.
Freshly prepared meals are provided three times a day. The project also caters meal to vegetarians and vegans. Volunteers need to notify us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements. A 24/7 Tea/Coffee station is provided.
Year round however, you should keep in mind that the project requires applicants to start on a Monday! It is advised to arrive one day before starting the project.
