Our vision for Limpopo-Lipadi is to return previously farmed and hunted land into the wild natural area it once was, with the return of the indigenous wildlife and vegetation, thereby recreating a healthy ecosystem and biodiversity and an exemplary legacy for future generations.

Motse Wildlife Volunteers is a new program at a private wilderness Reserve in which the volunteers stay on the reserve and get hands on with reserve activities everyday.

Volunteers stay in a converted old farm house in the north of the reserve in comfort, with running hot water, electricity, wi-fi and tours run anytime of the year. Just five and a half hours from Johannesburg Airport, we are a very accessible corner of Botswana.

Set at one of the most unique and beautiful wilderness locations in the world, Limpopo-Lipadi game reserve is singly accessible and remote at the same time. Botswana has a strong conservation imperative, and is working to improve the livelihood of the peoples who live alongside the wildlife. You can play a part in that journey….

Typical day

Activities vary each day and will include:

  • field work to return the area to the wildlife
  • fence reinforcement to save tortoises
  • reserve improvements field activities (seasonal)
  • work on research data and learn about wildlife species
  • Use Cybertracker unit to collect info on animals movements

Free-time activities

Every day, we will have morning and afternoon activities. A long lunch break is important to avoid being out during the hottest time.

During the weekends, one or two mornings are left free of activities. During this time, volunteers can enjoy the garden, read a book, to bird watching, help with the research data analysis, or just relax.

Volunteers can expect to see lion, wild dogs, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, zebra and much more while working on the reserve. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to be guided out at night, spotlighting for rare creatures such as bush babies, aardvarks and bat eared foxes.

Nearby village visits can also be arranged.

Set in a spacious farmhouse, we provide the volunteers with  a lounge area. free WiFi is included but NOT at the house, only at the main office. we will go to the office every two or three days were wi-fi will be available.

For those interested, there will be the option to use the facilities of the close by lodge for an extra cost, and take a free weekend to stay at the river lodge, use the swimming pool area, and go out on safari
