Support the mission of a well-established women empowerment organisation in the friendly and vibrant city of Cork. A unique way to discover Ireland! This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

Ireland is a wonderful country; it is safe, friendly, English speaking, rich in heritage, history and culture. From vibrant, exciting cities to spectacular countryside – it’s a magical place to visit. It’s also a wonderful place to stay and immerse yourself doing meaningful volunteer work.

CTL Ireland collaborates with the Cork city branch of a well-established international women empowerment organisation: Dress For Success. The organisation’s purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty. Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures. The organisation support disadvantaged women by providing them clothes, styling and suiting advice, but also personal coaching and career support to help them secure employment.

Project Highlights

  • Unique insight into a successful international women empowerment organisation
  • Work alongside experienced staff and volunteers
  • Cultural immersion in the Irish life
  • Diversity of volunteer activities

Volunteer work

Volunteers can get involved in a variety of activities. At the beginning of the programme, volunteers are presented with the different possible tasks and they discuss with their project mentor in which areas they will be involved.

Volunteers generally help with the maintenance of the boutique which displays the clothes accessories for women. They are also expected to support the work of the organisation in other areas such as marketing and promotion, administration etc. , marketing and general administration.

Volunteers generally work Mondays to Thursdays from 9am until 2pm. It is possible to combine this volunteer work with another project to increase the duration of volunteer work (e.g. charity shop, no extra cost involved). Combining two projects is a great opportunity to get involved in two different environments and increase the learning opportunities. There will be 1 or 2 international volunteers at the same time at the project (there could be one only).

Example of tasks

Volunteers can help in several areas:

  • Sorting clothes donations
  • Stock and organise boutique
  • Styling assistance (helping women get dressed for job interviews)
  • Visual Merchandising
  • Support marketing and promotion of the organisation (e.g. Social Media, PR)
  • Providing administrative support: data entry, funding applications, research

Who are we looking for?

This project is searching for friendly, open-minded and team-focused people with a genuine interest in women empowerment. Flexibility and reliability are other important skills. Volunteers with a diversity of profiles are welcome. For example, volunteers with a background in marketing or social media are in need at the project. Volunteers joining the project should have at least an intermediate level of spoken English and should be confident to carry out conversations in English.

Cork is Ireland’s second largest city. It is a young, dynamic, vibrant and multicultural city with a small community vibe. The city includes lively pubs, historic buildings and an abundance of things to do and see.  Cork is home to several universities, multinational companies and the prestigious English Market with over 50 food stalls open daily.  There is always something happening in Cork, with frequent concerts, live music, art exhibitions and festivals.
