Help protect the human rights of vulnerable migrant men, women, and children from Central America by supporting this Mexican migrant shelter.
This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
The current situation in many Central American countries like Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala, has caused thousands of people to flee their countries in search of a better future. These migrants usually try to cross the border with Mexico to reach the United States. Still, this has created a humanitarian tragedy of incredible dimensions, that requires direct help for all the people that find themselves stranded, unable to cross the border. La Sagrada Familia Migrant Shelter is the main non-gubermental institution in the state of Tlaxcala that provides humanitarian assitance to migrants in transit regardless of nationality, gender, creed, or age. This shelter helps more than 400 people per month and 5000 thousand per year: men, women, children, and entire families.
This shelter gives assistance to migrants in the areas of defense of human rights, humanitarian aid, human and community development, and linkage, communication, and advocacy.
In this project, our main objectives are provided thorough humanitarian assistance to migrants and refugees with services that focus on the protection of human rights, gender equality, and non-discrimintation. We want to improve the living conditions of these migrants, while also providing them with guidance and legal assistance. We want to promote a culture of respect for human rights, protection, integration, and non-discrimination.
