You will be responsible for direct work in the Intiwawa community in the field. You will be working directly with the children and parents in the communities and assist with projects in the field of education, psychology or social work:
Education: Homework support & planning and teaching English, Math and Communication classes to primary or secondary school students (10-12 students per class). You will also be responsible for planning lessons, materials and organization of your class. You will receive teacher training, monitoring and evaluation from our teacher trainer.
Health: Workshops on different health & nutrition topics for children and parents.
Strengthening of socio-cultural values: Planning & delivering extra-curricular workshops with a group of children on Saturdays.
Parent Empowerment: Parent School, Madres Luchadoras project (women empowerment project).

Requirements
Conversational Spanish level minimum.
Minimum 18 years old
First experience working in an NGO is a plus.

Details
The position is full time (35 hours per week).
Monday-Friday from 1pm-6pm and 2 Saturdays per month onsite, planning time for lessons, and regular team meetings and group activities.
Low-cost accommodation available.
International contacts in the Intiwawa community.
A letter of reference and certificate will be provided at the end of the term.

Typical day
As a volunteer you will be mainly working in our homework support project called "Yachay". This project takes place 5 days a week in the afternoon. You will be responsable for the direct work with the kids, have lunch with them and later help and support them in doing their homeowrk. Apart of homework support, you will also have some reinforcement classes with the kids in different subjects.
12- 12:30AM: Gather with the other volunteers to take the bus to Mollebaya.
2PM: Arrival in Mollebaya (Casa Intiwawa) where the projects take place
2-3PM: Play with the kids, prepare the afternoon and have lunch with the kids
3PM-5PM: Homework support and reinforcement classes in maths, english and communication with the kids
5PM-5:30PM: Supervise the kids cleaning their teeth and say good bye to them
5:30-6PM: Clean and orden the house and the yard
6PM: Take the bus back to the center of the city
Free-time activities
Arequipa is one of the most largest citys of Peru and provides a wide range of possibilities for your free time activities! Sports, as well as cultural events and sightseeing are only some examples. You can also use your free time to travel and get to know the country a little better.
