It’s time to take real action. It’s a widely known fact that rhinos are on the brink of extinction – but not if we have anything to say about it.
This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

The massive rise of rhino poaching has made waves throughout the world, as it becomes more evident by the day that if drastic action isn’t taken, our future generations may very well come to know the rhinoceros as an extinct creature.
Taking action requires innovative ideas and ingenuity, and the Rhino Momma Project did exactly that, they took decisive action in an innovative manner, and as a result, they have made a significant difference in the growing numbers of rhinos in Namibia.
Be apart of saving this iconic species from extinction. They need all the help they can get with round the clock feeding observation, data management, admin and the general well being of these animals.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work up close with these beautiful animals and be a part of their legacy.
Typical day
As there is no set times and we are working with animals anything can happen, but a typical day starts with morning feeding, animal counts, reports on animals.
Preparations
- preparations for morning & afternoon feeding
- cleaning of water and feeding bowls
- helping with fixing breeding camps fencing
- general farm work
- animal counts
- collecting data
Admin
- entering all data into a database
- births
- deaths
- vaccinations
- DNA testing (when available)
- filing etc
General Work
- helping with broken fencing
- fixing gates
- fixing broken water pipes
- making sure the feed is properly prepped and ready for the next days feeding
- general helping on the reserve
HAVING FUN!!!

Requisiti
In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
You need to speak English (basic level)

- Bedding will be supplied
- A fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, etc. is available to cook your meals.
- Free Wi-Fi, solar electricity and washing machine.
- There is a nice fire place to braai and relax on a small veranda (stoep) in front of each unit.
The other house accommodates 4 students/volunteers and consists of 2 bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Each room has its own bathroom with a toilet and a shower.
Limited access at the project site
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either.
Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
The nearest airport is Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek. We assist you to find cheap flights to Namibia.
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Namibia provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Namibia you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Namibia.

The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Your final payment will be agreed with Muller Stud Namibia during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
