Combine your passion for animals and desire to give back to society by improving the unfortunate situation of abandoned street animals in Portugal. During this volunteer program, you can help look for a new safe and beautiful home for stray dogs.
The program aims to improve the situation of the animals living on the streets. Due to the amount of work that it takes to keep the program running, the help provided by volunteers is always greatly appreciated. Animals are only mediated when the family have the correct surrounding for the dog.
Before starting your volunteer work project, you will receive an orientation from our local staff. The local stuff is runned by English speaking people. They are very happy to welcome volunteers from all over the world. Usually you will be in the programm with other volunteers. The project is close to a smaller city and you can get by bicycle their in 10 minutes.Typical day
You will help from 8/9 am till 1/2 pm or an afternoon shift are flexible, depend on the volunteer. Like this, you will have time to enjoy your
afternoon going to the city.
This program allows you to rescue and work with abandoned cats and dogs while helping them find a new home. Daily tasks may include:
- Feeding, and walking the animals
- Cleaning cages and equipment
- Drug administration and support with sterilization procedures
- Help with rescue operations where animals are brought in from the street
- Food distribution
for animals that live on the street
- Fundraising & Social Media (for long term volunteers)
Free-time activities
During your free time you can explore nearby cities. You can enjoy
activities like swimming, relaxing
on the beach during your days off.

Requisiti
In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
You need to speak English (intermediate level)
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.

We do work with Host Families where you will have a single room or with apartments.
Limited access at the project site
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either.
Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
The nearest airport is Faro Airport (FAO) in Faro. We assist you to find cheap flights to Portogallo.
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Portogallo provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Portogallo you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Portogallo.

The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Your final payment will be agreed with Jamso Trainee during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
