To effect environmental change through education that impowers all.

Our goal is effective protection and conservation of the habitats and species within the Conflict Island Atoll through sustainable ecological and economic management. This can be achieved from a concerted and passionate effort from all our affiliates and partners.

CICI provides the financial ability to employ local staff which will directly benefit their families and villages within the Milne Bay province. This partnership with local communities establishes good relationships between CICI and the islanders who work with us towards our common conservation goals of environmental sustanability.

CICI plans to become a world-renowned conservation organisation by establishing itself as a non-profit Organisation and creating a partnership with The Coral Islands Ltd (TCI). TCI produces the tools, facilities and infrastructure, including the liveaboard vessel Undersea Explorer, facilities already developed on Panasesa island, and the qualified staff already employed at CICI.

Sociale impact

On each internship that CICI runs, we visit to a different community group to present our donations and our education programs. Part of your internship will be to design an activity for either children or adults to take part in on this awareness day. We will spend one full day visiting a
local village where you will have the opportunity to pass on any donations, take part in traditional activities like weaving, coconut husking or climbing as well as presenting your own informal presentation. Depending on the island we visit you may have the opportunity to go on a local tour. this may be on a traditional sailau, visit a skull cave (part of PNG headhunting history), snorkel on a sunken plane wreck from WWII or do a traditional cooking weaving or cooking class. Our goal on these visits is to provide education about what our project is doing and our cause, and
get the community involved, interested and engaged. Without their support our conservation efforts will not work. We need to show our support for the local communities by undertaking these awareness days where we can talk, tell stories and discuss with the community what is important to them.
The programs also enables CICI to provide full time jobs for up to 12 permanent conservation staff.
