Weiba's mission is to encourage and promote social development through technology. To do this, the Foundation, through its different areas of work, intends to capitalize on technology as a change agent of the different needs of society.
The social impact of the Human Rights & Technology Project is divided in the following areas of work:
1. DIGITAL RIGHTS AND INTERNET FREEDOM
Protect digital and internet-related rights, including the right of privacy, freedom of expression and more.
2. INFRASTRUCTURE FOR DEVELOPMENT
Promote the creation and expansion of infrastructure for social development by boosting and getting involved in technological projects.
3. ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION
Encourage the public access to data and information so that citizens can, through openness and transparency policies, be considered decision-making participants.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Promote the generation and application of different technologies in order to protect the environment and assure its sustainable development and collective health.
5. ART, CULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY
Encourage all digital forms of artistic expression, the public access to culture and creative experimentation related to technology.
6. INNOVATION AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Support regional and collaborative economies, responsible and productive innovation, and entrepreneurship.
7. CYBERPOLITICS AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS WITH HUMAN RIGHTS FOCUS
Protect human rights, along with technological developments. This includes their applications within internet governance, cybersecurity and digital diplomacy.
8. YOUTH ONLINE
Generate projects for the responsible, safe, and creative usage of technological tools used by youth.
9. WOMEN AND TECHNOLOGY
Focus on empowering women so that they can exercise an active role in the digital world. Promote their rights and generate opportunities for their personal and professional development from a gender-based perspective.
