This exciting program is perfect for those who wish to volunteer, travel and experience the magical country of India all in a short period of time. Offering a wonderful combination of volunteering and fun, this initiative includes volunteering time with disadvantaged children in Delhi and at an Elephant Camp in Jaipur. Travel incorporates Delhi, Jaipur and Agra! Perfect for students, gappers, and career-breakers alike, as well as those simply looking for a meaningful holiday experience, this fully guided program is spread over two fun-packed weeks, and gives participants great insight into the culture, cuisine and traditions of India, through visits to major cities, historical monuments, local markets and authentic restaurants. In between adventure-filled weekends, participants on this program get to spend some valuable time volunteering at an Elephant Camp in Jaipur. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the local community, and to spend some time with these majestic animals! With a combination of community-based voluntary service work, and lots of traveling and sightseeing, this program is a perfect choice for people of all ages and backgrounds searching for a cultural experience with the satisfaction of volunteering in magical India!

How you can help
Volunteers with a passion for helping both children and animals will find this to be an extremely rewarding program. Volunteering in both Delhi, where there is a choice of participating on either the Street Children program or Childcare and Development program, and helping on an elephant camp in Agra, committed to the welfare of these vulnerable animals. Participants on this program will gain a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help those in need while gaining a fantastic traveling experience. This exciting volunteering travel program includes; pickup from Delhi airport/railway/bus station, program orientation, extensive information prior to arrival, accommodation and meals, placement and assistance in work area, assistance for local sightseeing, all program relevant materials, city tours of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, visit to the magical Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and a traditional Rajasthani sites, all accommodation during the expedition and all travel by Indian Railway. Entrance fees are additional and cost approximately $80-$100. A full itinerary is available on request. For those who wish to do so, volunteers who complete this two-week program can opt to extend their stay and continue with additional volunteering work on any of Love Volunteer’s programs in Delhi.
This program takes you from the hustle and bustle of Delhi to the famous Taj Mahal in Agra and the 'Pink City' of Jaipur. Here is a sample itinerary of what you might expect to see and do during these 2 weeks.
Entrance fees are additional and cost approximately $80-$100.
Day 1: Sunday Arrival into Delhi
An airport pickup is provided by our local team in Delhi between 6am and 10.30 pm.
Day 2: Monday Orientation
An informative orientation session takes place in the morning, aimed at helping you settle into the new environment and prepare for the adventure ahead. The remainder of the day is free to partake in any of the optional activities on offer. Breakfast and dinner are provided.
Day 3: Tuesday City tour of Delhi
A guided tour of this amazing city including the UNESCO world heritage listed Qutab Minar monument and Humayun's tomb as well as the Lotus Temple and India Gate. Wow! Breakfast and dinner are provided.
Day 4-6: Wednesday to Friday Volunteer work in Delhi
Volunteers have the option to participate on either the Street Children or the Childcare and Development program (view the individual program descriptions for detailed information). The aim of both programs is to interact with the children; providing informal education through sport, games and activities. The programs take place at a variety of contact points, shelters and childcare centres in the city. Breakfast and dinner are provided.
Day 7: Saturday Free time
A chance to relax and explore at your leisure. The local team will be happy to help with advice and support. Breakfast and dinner are provided.
Day 8: Sunday Delhi to Agra and the Taj Mahal
Arrangements are made for your transfer to Agra by air-conditioned train. After settling into your accommodation a trip to the famous Taj Mahal is planned. Breakfast is provided whilst lunch and dinner can be eaten in the hotel or a local restaurant in Agra.
Day 9: Monday Transfer to the Elephant Camp
After settling in to the Volunteer House you'll be taken to the Elephant Camp and introduced to the staff who will provide a detailed orientation session. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.
Day 10 & 11: Tuesday and WednesdayVolunteering at the Elephant Camp
Volunteers assist with all aspects of elephant care, including the preparation of the enormous amounts of food required daily, maintaining the grounds, walking the elephants and assisting with visitors to the camp. Strictly no riding or other exploitative activities are allowed and visitors come to learn about and contribute to the ongoing care and preservation of these majestic creatures. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.
Day 12: Thursday Transfer from Agra to Jaipur
After enjoying lunch in Agra city you'll make your way to Jaipur via air-conditioned train. All arrangements are made by our local team so you can simply relax and enjoy the journey. In Jaipur you will be taken to the hotel to settle in. Breakfast is provided. Lunch and dinner are at your own cost.
Day 13: Friday Jaipur city tour
A guided tour of the 'Pink City' of Jaipur including the City Palace, and monkey temple A great way to get a feel for the old days of "The Raj". Breakfast is provided.
Day 14: Saturday Visit to Amber Fort and transfer to Delhi
Today is spent taking in the wonder of this incredible UNESCO world heritage site. In the morning you'll visit Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and the Amber Fort and enjoying a and photo opportunity at Tal Mahal (Palace in the Lake) before returning to your hotel for lunch and check-out before transferring by air-conditioned train to Delhi. Settle in to your accommodation in Delhi and relax after a busy day!
Day 15: Sunday Depart
Volunteers can opt to depart for home or onward travel or continue to volunteer on any of our programs in Delhi.
Volunteers on this incredible program have the enviable opportunity to experience 3 of India's most popular cities: Delhi with its buzzing, vibrant atmosphere; Agra, home of the Taj Mahal and Jaipur where history beckons from every corner.
All this and the chance to volunteer both in Delhi and at an authentic Elephant Camp in Agra. What an introduction to Indian history and culture!
Volunteers are met on arrival into Delhi airport and taken to the volunteer house where they can meet with their hosts and fellow volunteers. The following day (Monday) an orientation session is held to introduce volunteers to the program and their new environment. The session will cover safety, transportation, basic culture and history and is a chance to get to know other volunteers and the local team and ask any questions you may have.
Volunteers are also welcome to join us for an optional Orientation Week in Delhi (details provided in the Additional Info. section).
Volunteers on this incredible program are accommodated in a Volunteer House in Delhi and Agra and hotel in Jaipur.
The accommodation in all cases is comfortable and well equipped. Rooms are typically shared by 2 - 4 volunteers and are split by gender. Bathrooms have western-style facilities and hot showers and air-conditioning is provided for comfort in the summer months. Bed linen is provided so volunteers need only bring personal toiletries and towels. Super easy!
Breakfast is provided daily whilst volunteering and other meals are as detailed in the program itinerary.
This project is available year-round on set dates with SUNDAY arrival. Spaces on this project are limited and therefore subject to availability. Early booking is recommended.
