Having the opportunity to watch, care for and monitor any of the sea turtles that nest in Costa Rica is an inspiring experience. They are all magnificent and mysterious creatures with very distinct qualities, like the extraordinary arrival on land, the agile maneuvers of the Green Turtle, the beautiful colors of the hawksbill turtle and the gigantic leatherback turtle - they are all fascinating! That's why we need your help so that we can help these beautiful creatures.
The project Naturaleza Pacuare was founded to 100% by local people from Costa Rica and is also managed by them. Our goal is to preserve the ecosystem in a sustainable way, to support the biodiversity in our country and to protect the sea turtles, some of which are highly endangered. With the help and cooperation of the local population, we have succeeded in creating an atmosphere in which everyone feels comfortable and welcome. With the knowledge of doing something good and valuable, everyone should have the opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the world.
At Naturaleza Pacuare we know that it doesn't take much to change the world a little. Since our founding in 2019, we have been determined to drive change for the better.
We are a young, motivated and dedicated team from Pacuare. Our vision became a very important mission today.
For this reason we have created our project "Naturaleza Pacuare". Under the leadership of Enid Chavarría Calderón, Alexander Calderón and the local population we have managed to establish a small but good project.
It is a great concern for us not only to provide ecological help, but also to give our volunteers a great opportunity to get to know the typical life of Costa Rica. You will also help maintain local economy.
You will live in a house with a bathroom and service. Everyone's laundry is totally rustic. Bringing a Kolbi line only Kolbi comes with internet. Bring dark clothes, boots and rain jacket. Bring your personal things like soap towels repellent, mosquito net and even pillow if you like. White and red flashlight to work with the turtles and in the hatcheries. You will only have access to a very small grocery store to get some snacks and drinks

Dagelijkse activiteiten
1. you will work on the beach for 4 hours during the day, at night there are rotating hours
2. after the spawning of the turtles, the eggs are brought to the rearing station for care
3. walks on the beach at different times to keep an eye on the turtles and thus prevent the eggs or even the turtles themselves from being stolen or injured
4. there will also be walks along the rivers or in the jungle
5. beach cleaning and camp maintenance
Vrijetijdsactiviteiten
1. Day and night walks on the beach or in the jungle to observe all species of animals present in Pacuare
2. Enjoy the beach and the sea carefully
3. Play games or do sport, share with the others volunteers
4. Enjoy tours that the association can organize for you like boat tour, visit of Parismina or Tortuguero
5. Learn the typical cuisine, try the local dances

Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.
Je dient over volgende taalkennis te beschikken Engels (gemiddeld niveau)
ou Spaans (gemiddeld niveau)
Geen beperkingen. Helpende handen van over de hele wereld zijn welkom.

maandag, dinsdag, woensdag, donderdag en vrijdag

The fees are used to maintain the camp, buy food and materials for animal care (gloves, bags, hatchery building...).
We also organize day and night walks to see nature and animals.
The hosting is a nice house built with local materials, with dorms, bathroom and service.

Everyone's laundry is totally rustic, you will wash it by your own.
Only Kolbi comes with internet in this place so bring a Kolbi SIM card with a few thousand colones worth of data on it to make sure you have internet access at the site.
Bring dark clothes, boots and rain jacket. Also a red and white flashlight to work with the turtles and in the hatcheries.
Bring your personal things like soap, towels, mosquito net and pillow if you like. We can provide sheets.
Our food and beverages range from national to international cuisine, with an emphasis on our delicious Caribbean food.
We like to share frech fruits.
The best and cheapest way to come is a bus from San Jose to Bataan. You can catch it at Grand Terminal del Caribe in San José center and buy your tickets directly there. The bus is at 2,4 or 6PM. Then a few part by taxi that cost 16$. To finish, an amazing trip by boat. You’ll have to pay 40$ to go and back.
If you prefer a private car from San Jose we can reserve it for you.
We can coordinate everything for your transportation from the airport to the boarding area of the pangas (boats), which go to our facilities and where we will be waiting for you.

Onze excuses, geen toegang op de project site
Visum, vluchten, reisverzekering en vaccinaties zijn NIET inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
Afhaling van de luchthaven is ook niet inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
De dichtste luchthaven is Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San Jose. We assisteren u met het vinden van goedkope vluchten naar Costa Rica.
Naar het buitenland reizen is een avontuur en het is best om goed voorbereid te zijn. Plots ziek worden of gewond raken, annulaties of diefstal - een reisverzekering voor Costa Rica biedt zekerheid en is een meerwaarde.
Als je de intentie hebt om als vrijwilliger aan de slag te gaan in Costa Rica dien je eerst medisch advies in te winnen alvorens je eropuit trekt. Kijk de benodigde vaccinaties na voor Costa Rica.
