Come now and enjoy the picturesque Children’s Autism & Horse Therapy Ranch, nestled among the rolling hills of beautiful southern Mississippi! Here you have an amazing opportunity to volunteer at a 200‐acre ranch (with an additional 800 acre to ride or hike on) and spend all day around amazing horses!
In addition to that, you’ll also be working alongside an amazing team all working towards a worthwhile cause of ranch therapy, making a difference for kids with special needs. The Children’s Autism & Horse Therapy focuses on helping all children with autism and other special needs and is free to every child that is in dire need of some help. This method done by the project has proven over the years to produce good results however, with a little help form you we can make an even bigger positive impact on the lives of these kids!
Your role as a volunteer will be incorporated in the daily work on the ranch. You will be involved in the care of the horses and other therapy animals such as; cats, dogs and goats including the maintenance of their surrounding/environment and you’ll also assist in the therapy sessions. Volunteer work means plenty of time around and together with the horses but it is important to keep in mind that this program is not a "riding camp". Instead it is about making sure the therapy horses and other therapy animals gets the best possible care so they are ready for their work with the kids and as a bonus you get to go on one trail ride every week!
You will volunteer along side international volunteers and local volunteers as well as local staff who will guide and train you during your stay.
The project is based in a semi remote location in southern Mississippi.
Volunteers will be staying in shared bedrooms together with other volunteers and get the chance to meet and make new friends for life as well as getting an unbelievable experience with great chances of team work.
Requirements:
- Driver’s license (optional).
- 18 years of age or older
- Health insurance and Tetanus vaccination (recommended). Criminal Record/Police Clearance Required.
- Intermediate language level required or higher.
- No smoking and No animal allergies
- Being flexible.

Volunteers play a key role in assisting the project with its objectives and as such, your main tasks will mainly consist out of the following but are not limited to:
- Groom and care for the horses
- Care for the small therapy animals such as; dogs, cats and goats
- Assist during therapy sessions
- Cleaning the stalls and out side pens
- Feeding the horses
- Fencing such as repairing or building new fence
- Mowing the lawn or other gardening chores
- Other tasks to keep the facilities in good condition

Volunteers have a lot of opportunities to do leisure time activities on their days off. The city of New Orleans is only an hour and a half drive away so volunteers can visit!
