Africa Sustainable Tourism Care Foundation (ASTCF) promotes Sustainable Tourism and ethical travel practices.

Who we are

Africa Sustainable Tourism Care Foundation (ASTCF) is a grassroots, a non-profit tourism NGO that is focused on the conservation of biodiversity and development of rural communities in high tourism potential areas in Uganda.

We at Africa Sustainable Tourism want to supplement household incomes through a diverse and holistic sustainable tourism practices and other environmental sustainable businesses to alleviate poverty, fight gender inequality, empower local communities, and in particular disadvantaged groups (women, youth, ethnic people), and encourage the conservation of cultural and natural heritage.

Furthermore, Africa Sustainable Tourism Care Foundation (ASTCF) works at the grassroots level with local communities around the “tourism focal districts” of Uganda to find and achieve local solutions to environmental issues and to assist village communities and entrepreneurs to identify and analyze their natural, historical and cultural heritage resources.

Africa Sustainable Tourism wants to help these communities and entrepreneurs to develop into appropriate, viable and sustainable new tourism attractions, facilities, services and experiences that will meet the needs and expectations of various market sectors, while at the same time conserving Uganda’s natural environment and improve livelihoods of associated communities.

Social Impact

We work directly with communities to understand the obstacles they face and provide solutions specific to their needs.

These solutions provide jobs, community capacity building, conservation management, educational opportunities, and, ultimately, the ability for people to better their own lives.

Our Goals

  • Being conscious of needs of the local communities and ensuring that they benefit economically from tourism.
  • Respect for local people and their customs, traditions and culture
  • Respect for preserving the environment and natural resources
  • Being conscious of the impact of tourism on the community and environmental resources.
