Review Description

We are a B Corp with a mission to change the world by matching clients with conservation and animal welfare related volunteer opportunities at sanctuaries, hospitals and research projects.

Our commitment is to change the lives of Animal Experience International (AEI) clients AND to change the lives of our placement partners. One of the goals of AEI is to encourage our clients to share their knowledge. Veterinarians, accountants and chefs all have very different skill sets but each has the potential to make a difference in a very real way.

All of the AEI Experiences are built around what the placement needs. We refuse to take management roles at these centres as we are not local and can not understand the local cultural and social lenses that leads to the systemic conservation problems unique to each community. We work for the community with the community in the community.

For 2 years Animal Experience International  have been honoured as The Best FOR the World, taking into account our social and environmental community benefit.

About Animal Experience International

Animal Experience International (AEI) is an organization with a mission to help animals around the globe by matching clients with animal-related volunteer opportunities at sanctuaries, wildlife hospitals, animal clinics and conservation projects. Through their work as a wildlife veterinarian and as a volunteer coordinator for wildlife rehabilitation centres, Heather and Nora have come to understand the need for such an organization. AEI is committed to making sustainable and long lasting connections by partnering with only the very best organizations around the world.  Quality, worry-free placements allow AEI’s clients to focus on taking care of the animals and getting the most possible from their volunteer experience!

All of AEI’s partners are community-based organizations, and AEI works directly with the community to not only take part in conservation projects but to ensure that they are making a sustainable change. Each partner has been personally visited and assessed to ensure that the placements are genuinely aiding animals and that our presence will be beneficial to the community.  Animal Experience International understands the negative impact that volunteer tourism can potentially have and is committed to ensuring our clients make a valuable and positive impact on their own lives as well as the lives of our Placement Partners around the world.

Animal Experience International is committed to ethical environmental practices. Understanding that travel is a contributor to climate change and environmental degradation, AEI has partnered with a family-run company in northern Canada to make 100% of the travel associated with its trips carbon balanced. Trees are planted in the boreal forest to off-set the in-country travel of Animal Experience International volunteers. AEI’s commitment is not only to changing the lives of AEI clients, but to making the planet a healthier place to live.

2015 at Wildlife Conservation

Working with the elephants in Thailand was way more than I had imagined, they are such an amazing species, gentle giants who have feelings just like us. Unfortunately their numbers are dropping significantly for many reasons. The good news is AEI has this wonderfull volunteer program in which they ...

2015 at Wildlife Volunteering in Guatemala.

A year ago I took the best trip of my life. I was just about finished school that year and I found myself stuck on Animal Experience Internationals website, almost daily, dreaming about being able to volunteer on every single trip! I chose to do my volunteering in Peten Guatemala. I had never been ...

2015 at Elephant Care

I was very lucky to find Animal Experience International and took a leap of faith and went to Thailand to work with Asian Elephants. This was easily one of the best experiences of my life. I volunteered for two months, and made a great number of friends and an incredible amount of life experience. ..
