Project Details

Igniting an economically inspiring community and catalyzing lifelong learning among children from slum and rural areas.

We are a youth led Community Based Organization in Kisumu, Kenya serving the vulnerable rural and slum communities. Our key target is children. We employ a skill building concept which is sustainable, cost effective and also appeal to the aspirations of our targets through constructive interdependence and improvement of life skills and leadership.
Our vision is a proactive community of young people constructively participating in socio-economic and political platforms in peace. Core values are Respect and value for children and women, stewardship, accountability and upholding humanity.
Emerging Leaders Community therefore targets children from the rural community of Nyakach in Kisumu County. Most of these children come from humble backgrounds and therefore their parents/guardians are not able to buy even the basic text books that may contribute to their success in school.
The Initiative will establish a resource centre and aim at tackling issues of low performances and school drop outs among these rural children as a result of lack of curricula books, conducive reading environment and lack of proper mentorship and also equip their families with Agribusiness skills.
