Health&Help is a charity that raises money for the construction of a free clinic as well as provides medical help to local in Guatemala.

Health&Help is a charity project that raises money for the construction of a free clinic as well as aims to provide the local population in a remote area of Guatemala with medical services of high quality. It was founded in 2015 by Viktoria Valikova, a tropical medicine specialist from Russia, and Sergio Castillo, a medical professional from Guatemala.

How it all started:
The idea for founding a charity all started on a journey through Asia in the beginning of 2013. During this journey the Viktoria Valikova, saw many people, sleeping in the streets in cardboard boxes, eating food out of trash, for the first time in her life she realized that she was luckier than others. So she started looking for a job in Third World Countries, having decided for herself that this is a better idea than working in a luxurious private clinic in her home town, Ufa. After all Viktoria chose Guatemala randomly and worked there in a small remote village, where only she and midwife Inti provided medical services for locals within thousands of kilometers distance.
Viktoria wasn’t travelling a lot because of the constant tension at work; so when her mother came to visit her in Guatemala, they took a small break: it helped Viktoria realize there are a lot of places similar to Pojom – the village, where the clinic was – and this trip encouraged her to set new life goals.

Volunteers from all over the world have been joining the project since. The first Health&Help fundraising campaign was held on Boomstarter in winter 2016; the goal was met and total giving reached RUB1,327,465, or 110% of the target amount. The construction works are scheduled for July 2016 and will be undertaken by volunteers and the locals. The Clinic medical staff will also be working pro bono.

Social Impact

Health&Help is a nonprofit organization founded in 2015 by a group of physicians and other medical professionals from different countries. Being experienced in humanitarian assistance, we decided to launch a construction of a clinic for locals in Chuinajtajuyub, Momostenango, Totonicapan in Guatemala.

We provide consultations in the following areas: pediatrics, general medicine, maternal health, and infectious and tropical diseases. We are a non-profit entity, which is funded by donations and voluntary contributions. Strong humanitarian ties help us contribute to the physical and mental health of the indigenous population of the rural area of Guatemala and Latin America.
