Review Description

Who we are ?

We are the members of an organization  called Oblige for Vulnerable Children Tanzania (OVCT), it is made up of about 15 members who voluntary have organized themselves and decide to  support and educate  children. Membership in OVCT organization is regardless gender. Being an OVCT member, is something that every member from his /her hearty felt says that it builds confidence and joy while serving the  children with their caregivers around the villages starting from Puma (a small town where the OVCT Head quarter is) to the other villages in Tanzania by educating or training them.

What we do ?

OVCT organization members are open handed to receive volunteers with Health, Nutrition, Human Rights (Child's Rights), Life Skills, Teaching and Community Welfare professional or qualification and experience to work with the organization team. Focusing in training the  children with their caregivers about Health and Nutrition, Child's Rights and Life Skills the volunteers will have their duty to share their professionals, experiences, qualifications with the  children and their caregivers around the villages by teaching and educating the children with the caregivers.

Along with this, OVCT sensitizes the community to be aware and care for these kind of children in making sure that they get their rights equal like the other children such as shelter, food, education, respect and security.

Where we work ?

Our working legal area is in Tanzania Mainland (in Kiswahil-- Tanzania Bara). Our Head Quarters are in a small town called Puma; Puma is in Ikungi District, in Singida region and in the Country of Tanzania. The volunteers accommodation house is in Puma (a small town), the small town is along the main tarmac road  which is the major road from Dar es Salaam city to Dodoma (the capital of Tanzania), to Singida region, to Mwanza region, and up to Mara region.

Puma is a nice small town furnished with delicious food products such as pawpaws, onions, sugarcane, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, sorghum, millet, maize, sunflower and cabbages. The availability of vegetarian food is one hundred percent for the volunteers to enjoy. The facilities like transport, electricity, water and community unity in Puma is not a problem; the volunteers will enjoy interacting with different community people so that they can learn local cultures and customs.

The volunteers programs will be visiting many of the villages which are close and far from the main tarmac road while accompanying with the organization team members.

There is a lot of safety here at Puma and the Health requirements are available. We have a "Queen of Universe" Hospital which is near to the accommodation house where the volunteers will be staying. We have also Dispensary in Puma, shops, a market and a business market on every Friday and Sunday (here the volunteers can buy different needs and materials they want). Banks are in a capital town of Singida region which is Singida town; and it is not far from Puma(a small town). The volunteers would also enjoy visiting Singida town and see different kinds of facilities and things where also the main roads of the country are joined. Singida town is the  core center of the country. So, it is easier to travel wherever in the country by using motor vehicles. All the roads to other regions, major towns and cities from Singida, are tarmac roads .

Our Mission

The OVCT Mission is fight against the poverty among children in Tanzania by supporting them in Education, Health, Nutritional, Life Skills and prevent HIV/AIDS infections so that they can achieve their future goals.

Our Vision

The OVCT Vision is to make sure that  children get equal rights like the other children.

Our Goals

The OVCT Goals are:-

  1. To educate the children with the caregivers about Child's Rights as mentioned in the National and International Laws.
  2. To support  children regarding to the organization ability.
  3. To educate the children with their caregivers about Child's Rights, Health, Nutrition, Life Skills, HIV/AIDS and to fight against the poverty among the people living with HIV/AIDS.
  4. To support the  children especially in Education,  Economic and in different life development opportunities  in their life now and in the future.

Who are we looking for ?

We OVCT organization members are looking for the volunteers who would be coming to share with us working to help these kind of children and the community in general. The volunteers would enjoy staying with us because OVCT organization is warmly welcoming the volunteers wherever in the world  to come and join us working in educating or training the  children with the caregivers and the community in general.

Why choose us ?

The volunteers would choose to work with us because; they first of all would enjoy working with OVCT members around the villages, they would enjoy training  children with the caregivers / caretakers around the villages, they would enjoy meeting with different people around the villages and share discussion, changing ideas and experiences together. The volunteers also would enjoy staying in a peaceful country of Tanzania and  especially in Puma) and enjoy "How kind, lovers of people and generous Tanzanians are.

The volunteers also would enjoy observing attractive huge rocks in some of the villages while traveling in implementing their volunteering work; the volunteers would also enjoy visiting our country National Parks such as Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Tarangire and even Mount Kilimanjaro and see the attractive creation and  different kinds of animals (if they would like to do so on their own expenses after finishing their volunteering  period).

Members of the local organization are a splendid bunch of highly dedicated people who, almost incredibly, have mounted a quite large operation considering their resources and the local context. We were a couple and stayed with them for three weeks, visiting many villages where we gave speeches and ...
