About the project

Due to Peru's geographical position it is the perfect breeding ground for rare plants and exotic animals. This animal protection projects main objective is to explore the native flora and fauna and thus be able to protect and conserve them, this makes sure that the environment is biologically diverse. 

The zoological center relies on its close relationships with local commmunities and universities to research and care for all the exotic plants and animals, among these animals are turtles, monkeys, birds, llamas, parrots, bears, peccaries, condors and ocelots.

As well as the center works very hard on educating the local communities close to the reserve on how important it is to protect the local flora and fauna for future generations. 


Your work 

In this project you will be given a wide range of different tasks and activities in order to protect the local wildlife.

On a typical working day you willl: 

  • fertalize and water a variety of different plants and shrubs, 
  • research and observe animals and their behaivour, 
  • bath different species of turtles, 
  • prepare food and feed the animals, 
  • assist researchers and workers in everyday tasks, 
  • maintain and clean enclosures.

Accommodation

For this project you have the oppurtunity to stay with a native family in Peru. You will have a private bedroom but share bathroom and other living areas with the family. It is a great way to get to know the culture and improve your Spanish skills.

You can volunteer at the project site in Cusco/Peru between 4 weeks and 25 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. South America Inside will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
$197/week
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with South America Inside during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
