Building Homes

Contribute to build decent homes to a underprivileged families in Portugal. Become a volunteer in construction!

Portugal is a great place to live. Nice weather, inspiring history, healthy tasty food and awesome people.

Unfortunately, not everyone in Portugal has access to the great quality of life the country can offer. Over 2 million people is in danger to live in poverty, including 500 thousand children and their families. This project directly helps families living in poverty to have a decent home by mobilizing national and international volunteers to build and repair their houses.

Discover Lisbon beyond its touristic sites
This is an experience aiming to show travellers the true spirit of the Portuguese capital. Walk around the narrow streets of the old centre, visit authentic handicraft shops and taste the typical dishes which our grandmothers used to prepare. You also get the opportunity to see the hidden side of the city by volunteering in local social associations. Understand how people live by participating in volunteering activities and you will go back home with a totally unforgettable experience.

Your Task
As a Just a Change volunteer, you will have the opportunity to be integrated into a team of volunteers from all over the world that have a common mission: contribute to allow everyone to have a home.  After the initial orientation, you will have afternoon or evening shift at your placement and will work for approximately 3 to 5 hours per day. Your tasks may include among others:
  • Painting a door or a wall
  • repairing a room floor
