About the Program

We want to aspire a place where people are creatively inspired within a hand reach to participate in an affordable and sustainable building culture. For this, we need the necessary funding and someone to help us with the financial overview.We face an rapid changing building culture, due to modern influences, climate change and environmental policies. These factors lead to poor building qualities and living situations. This results to poverty and disastrous consequences for the environment. 

You, as volunteer, design and oversee the fundraising of the organization by organizing income-generating activities, applying for funds or subsidies and establishing (corporate) sponsorship. This role will require a motivated, independent, adventurous and forward-thinking individual to work on several programs to guarantee the organization´s growth. This position is perfect for those wanting to strengthen their experience and expertise when looking for a career in development cooperation. The position gives insight into all of the many facets of the running and expanding of a development organisation.

Mostly you will work in our office in Moshi, and sometimes in our Zanzibar office. You will meet partners in the Kilimanjaro region and sometimes accompanine to construction site to see how it's going and discover how to raise funds for the programs first hand.

You will be able to work side by side with the founder of the organization, the Organizational Manager, the NGO partner organisations and all the interesting people that cross our path. You will not only help the organization, but also be able to learn and experience to be part of the interesting and exciting processes that a growing organization is going through.

A financial background is not at all obligated, all material is located in our offices. Just be motivated and adventurous to complete our team in Tanzania!

  • Motivating and facilitating supporters to maximise the funds they raise
  • Inspiring new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters
  • Developing new and imaginative fundraising activities
  • Raising awareness of the charity and its work at local and national levels, e.g. by giving talks to groups or seeking photo opportunities with the media
  • Developing and coordinating web-based fundraising, online auctions and merchandise sales
  • Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity's aims and activities
  • Developing and implementing a strategy for individual and corporate supporter recruitment and development
  • Overseeing corporate fundraising, including employee giving and matched giving from employers
  • Managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information
  • Writing applications and mail-shots, using direct mailing to reach a wide range of potential and current donors
  • Making risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success
  • Apply for grants, government funding or development prices

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s).

Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 - 17:00

Free-time activities

There are lots of things to do in the Kilimanjaro region:

Off course there is a Kilimanjaro trip and several safari options. This is rather expensive but totally worth is when you are in Tanzania for a longer time. We have an office in Zanzibar so you will defiantly have the time to visit this subtropical island.There are several hikes who are not expensive at all. You can go around by bike, play tennis or golf. We are participating in a weekly running club and ultimate frisbee team. In our hostel, their is always time to have a beer or play volleybal among friends

Your accommodation is reserved at the C-re-aid house. All C-re-aid interns will stay together in this large house, where also the office of C-re-aid is. The accommodation offers shared rooms; there is a kitchen with fridge (where you can store and prepare your own food), 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets, a communal area and the office.  Laundry service and cleaning lady are included. You’ll find everything you need here and surely feel at home.

Our house is safe and secure and offers on site security throughout the night.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.

You can volunteer at the project site in Moshi/Tanzania between 12 weeks and 50 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. C-re-a.i.d. will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with C-re-a.i.d. during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
