About PIVS

PIVS is set in an African traditional way of life thus focusing on its vision to improve the people’s way of life by working with them from grass root levels. PIVS was founded in 2001 and registered in 2002 at the office of the vice president and ministry of gender, sports, culture and social services as a community based organization and in 2007 PIVS was elevated and registered as a Non Governmental Organization.

It is committed to especially set-up and co-ordinate Work camps in various part of Kenya, especially marginalized areas, which plays a pivotal role in co-ordinating voluntary work, strengthening sustainable initiatives by taking part as volunteers, promoting intercultural exchange.

Pamoja is a “Kiswahili” word, which means "together" or "unity".

Volunteering in Childcare 

-Volunteers will be doing a variety of work at the home.
-Volunteers will be offered meals and accommodation.

The volunteer will be teaching pupils aged between 7-14 years old, language of communication is English.
The Children home Mama Ngina  is in Kisumu county, run by the county council.

Possible tasks

- Counselling the children
- Playing with the children
- Caring for the babies and feeding them
- Cooking and cleaning
- Coaching the children
- Mentoring and teaching them life skills

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 08:00 - 16:00

Free-time activities

Volunteers can do a number of activities when free like travelling, learning Swahili, Safari, scuba diving, visiting cultural centers, mountain climbing and visiting the beach.

Airport Pickup

Provide airport pick up at an extra cost. Transport from Nairobi to the project site fees borne by the volunteer.


Volunteer will have his/her own room, shared toilet and bathroom, eat meals together with the host family. For groups of volunteer we organize they live together in a social hall or school hall facilities.

You can volunteer at the project site in Kisumu/Kenya between 2 weeks and 26 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Pamoja International will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Pamoja International during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
