Childcare Supporter

Organize games and activities for the children, Play games, supervise the children during the day

The project

Many of the children you will look after are from unstable enviroments and may also suffer from physical and psychological abuse. The orphanages give the children a temporary place to live while the parents undergo counseling or treatment. If the home enviroment does not improve, the children will be moved with the hopes for a adoption.

The orphanage provides a home-like atmosphere for the children where they also get pychological and health assistance from professional doctors, nurses and therapists. By volunteering at these homes you are a help children who have suffered tragedy in their lives or being neglected by there parents. These homes are either run by the government or privately  through sponsors, these homes are severely under funded and volunteers are key to helping the children.

Most of the children live in groups of 10 to 20 children all aged between 1 and 9 in houses which are run by women who live there giving round the clock care. Some volunteers may also be placed at a transitional home. These are homes run by the governemnt whilst they decide if the child will return to his family or look for an adoption. The children in these homes range from 0 to 13 years and the orphanages have a capacity of 120 minors.

If you work with children, there can be a lot of unforeseen situations and as a volunteer you should be spontaneous, tolerant and creative when employing your daily tasks. Keep in mind that you will act as an example for these children so please be aware of this responsibility.
