Children's Caretaker and Mentor

Orphaned and abandoned children need care and love from us so as they can be able to grow up into mature and responsible people.

About the Program

Kenya has a lot of orphans who have been affected by the AIDS virus as well as poverty. There is a need to help kids who have lost their parents through the many reasons available. We are presently working with more than 8 local orphanages in the different parts of the Kenya. At this program you mostly help orphans by tutoring, home schooling and organizing creative extra-curricular activities.

Cannan Orphanage was started in the year 2010 as a homestyle shelter and was shortly after registered in 2011 as an orphanage. After caring for young children and orphans in a home, the only solution was to look for a place that is spacious, safe and with at least one room where children could study and sleep well. The children welfare now had to come first. Starting the orphanage became a priority and we registered it.

We want to become a leading charitable organization in providing child care and support to orphans.

We want to promote behavioral change among the orphans and support them to be responsible members of the society through education, healthcare counseling and prepare them spiritually for the challenges in life. The home has 30 children at the moment with seven staff members offering services to help in the daily growth of these children.

Aims and Objectives

  • To provide clean sanctuary and health care to orphans.
  • To provide high standard education from Nursery School to secondary school and beyond.
  • To provide counseling to traumatized orphans and offer them hope in life.
  • To provide a strong religious foundation of the child choice within the curriculum at the school.
  • For those children who may not make it to secondary school because of marks, the orphanage is to provide technical courses e.g. welding, masonry, plumbing, turner fitter, tailoring, home I applied science, carpentry, salon etc. starting at certificate level with opportunity to advance to diploma level. This will help in self - employment.
  • To engage in income generating projects and activities e.g. offering professional courses in accounting, computer, human resources, agriculture and livestock, business administration etc. to general public who shall be charged a fair fee for the services to benefit the orphans.
  • To provide boarding facilities and extracurricular activities like sports, exchange visits, engaging them in all government and community activities where relevant.
  • To provide shelter in a safe and healthy environment to the orphans.
  • To advocate for the right and upkeep of children in general with special emphasis on orphans.
  • To create awareness on issues of HIV I AIDS and drug abuse for the benefit of orphans and public in general.
