Work with the poor to get a cleaner and better environment, access to clean water, light at night without burning precious trees and without electricity

Activists are needed - to work with the poor to get a cleaner and better environment, access to clean water, light at night without burning preceious trees and without electricity. All we can do is useful and needed, and we must be many to do a lot - so you are needed!

Through this programme you will learn about the mechanisms of climate change, you will get a better understanding of forces that rule the world, and you will make a very practical contribution to alleviating the consequences of climate change in communities in India. During your time at Winestead Hall you will be part of developing the Climate Centre at CICD.

The 5 months go like this:

- 1st period - 6 weeks: Training and studies at CICD. Planning the service period. The 1st period will be both theoretical and practical.
- 2nd period - 11 weeks: Service period in India. Working together with Humana People to People in India at one of their environmental projects. This period will mainly be practical, but there will also be time for investigations in India.
- 3rd period - 4 weeks: Conclusion and information work - sharing your experiences with the next volunteers and the public.

Accommodation

Students and staff live at the college, mostly in double rooms with shared bathrooms and toiltes. Cleaning and garden work we also organise together and do it ourselves. (Great for learning organisational and practical skills!)

Bedroom (Double)
Food & Beverages

We have a self-catering system and all take turns to cook, bake bread and wash the dishes in our common Big Kitchen. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served every day in the common dining room. In between meals there are always snacks and coffee and tea available there, and there is always bread, cereal and fruit so when hunger strikes in the middle of the afternoon it can be catered for.
