As a volunteer, you will experience traditional life and participate in daily activities, such as cooking over an open fire. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

Volunteers are needed in high numbers in this school. They make a difference for children and families every day through the gift of their time, energy, and talents. The main task is to help cooking and support the schools chef at the school kitchen within school compound. The area is quite quiet and is near the shopping center and market place where people buy food and other things.

What you do as a volunteer:

  • Volunteers go to the market to buy food stuff with the chef so that they can bring it for cooking once per week.
  • Cooking
  • Serving food to the children
  • Wash utensils
  • Volunteers also help to feed the  little children

Typical day

Cooking volunteers will arrive at the school in the morning 8.30am. The volunteer will start preparing food to be cooked in that day. The volunteer will be working with the school chef. They arrange to cook breakfast which is served at 10 am and after that they arrange to cook lunch which is served at 1 pm.

Volunteer will be working from Monday to Friday.
Volunteer also will be taking lunch from the school.

This program is available all year.The volunteer may arrive one day before the set start dates.

Free-time activities

Kenya holds a huge population from different tribes. Kenya has 42 tribes and the same ethnic languages. All the 42 tribes come to Nairobi to look for jobs, do business, and also get academics besides others and this is why Nairobi is the center of many things.

Places to visit & Things to do:

  • a giraffe center, a snake park, elephant orphanage, mamba village [crocodile], national museums of Kenya, Bomas of Kenya [cultural dancers] and many other parks in the city. It's a city which is cool next to Ngong forest with warm and sometimes cool climate.
  • a lot of historic sites
  • Mombasa coastal beaches
  • Climbing mountains, Kilimanjaro-tallest in Africa and Mt Kenya-Tallest in Kenya
  • Masai mara national park
  • Amboseli national park
  • Tsavo national park
  • Naivasha national park
  • Nakuru national park
  • 14 falls in Kenya 

All these are nice places which attracts a lot of people in Kenya and volunteers can choose to visit these places after their volunteering period, before or during weekends and we organize safaris for them.

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:30 - 16:30

Agape Academy (your host organization) provides consulting and is keen to answer all your questions. Once you reserved your spot, you will receive the contact details of your volunteer project.

On-site services

Services by Agape Academy

The fee includes: 3 meals a day, beverages and non-alcoholics, accommodation.

Airport pick up is provided but cost not included here.


Volunteers share accommodation with other volunteers or family members. There are bathrooms, toilets and very nice bed rooms and a dining room.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. We assist you to find cheap flights to Kenya.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Kenya provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Kenya you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Kenya.

Average fees

You can volunteer at the project site in NAIROBI/Kenya between 4 weeks and 50 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Agape Academy will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in Kenya.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Agape Academy during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
