Daycare Supporter

Gain practical experience working with children aged 1-6 Years old.

About the Program
Volunteers will be working with children aged 1-6 years old where they can gain practical experience in their particular field. Participants will be placed at daycare centers within the city Center of Cape Town City or the surrounding communities of Cape Town. The principal of the creche will be able to complete the necessary forms as required for volunteering purposes.

Volunteers bring energy and new backgrounds into the classroom. They help local teachers maintain classroom order and provide more individualized attention to the children, especially those falling behind. They share their culture and skills and help expose the children to new ideas. We place as much emphasis to local development issues through meaningful volunteer placements as we do on bringing people together to share learn through each other. Being a volunteer abroad brings huge responsibilities. Firstly you have to adjust to a different culture. When you are in the class, you are responsible for the children and have the same responsibility as the teacher.

The kids you will be taking care of are between a few months and 6 years old.

They reflect Cape Town’s long history and help explain why the city is one of the most multicultural in the word. Robben Island, the infamous prison where political prisoners, including Nelson Mandela, were held during apartheid is a difficult but necessary stop. For outdoor lovers, Cape Town has a wide mix of opportunities. Table Mountain is a breathtaking spot to visit, and there are many nearby hills, mountains and trails that make for great biking, climbing and hiking.
