About the Program
Location Tanzania Start date: negotiable, Full Time Internship Compensation Voluntary position, accommodation provided, stipend after 6 months.
We want to aspire a place where people are creatively inspired within a hand reach to participate in an affordable and sustainable building culture.
We face a rapid changing building culture, due to modern influences, climate change and environmental policies. These factors lead to poor building qualities and living situations. This results to poverty and disastrous consequences for the environment.
The team of architects will be working on four different branches from the organization:
C-re-aid plus: you will be involved with the design and construction of several larger architectural projects. The projects are selected on their social value and contribution to research and the local community.
Groundwork Project: You will be assisting in the evaluations of past projects and selection of future projects. In addition you will be assisting the guidance of students of architecture and volunteers with their construction projects.
All-Round Project: You are responsible for the preparation, design, study and implementation of construction projects in Northern Tanzania. You will be assisting managing and mentoring our latest branch: Workshops.
You will work in Moshi, and in Nungwi, Zanzibar. You will meet partners in the Kilimanjaro region and go to construction site to conduct the previous designed projects.
You will be able to work side by side with the founder of the organization, the financial Manager, organizational manager, the NGO partner organisations and all the interesting people that cross our path. You will not only help the organization, but also be able to learn and experience to be part of the interesting and exciting processes that a growing organization is going through.
There are lots of things to do in the Kilimanjaro region:
Your accommodation is reserved at the C-re-aid house. All C-re-aid interns will stay together in this large house, where also the office of C-re-aid is. The accommodation offers shared rooms; there is a kitchen with fridge (where you can store and prepare your own food), 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets, a communal area and the office. Laundry service and cleaning lady are included. You’ll find everything you need here and surely feel at home.
Our house is safe and secure and offers on site security throughout the night.
Volunteer provides tools and methods to be used by the staff to lead them in the right direction as the strategy describes in order to make sure the NGO can work.
