About the Program
We have community based programs in Mutare with a mission to enhance child development through foster program and education support care system for the 50 less privileged families.The programs are in Sakubva Township which is outside Mutare.
As a volunteer, you will be expected to produce and promote short video documentaries that can be uploaded online and shared with our project partners. As volunteer you will work with the in country supervisor who will be directing your workplan in Mutare.
You will enjoy the filming and documentary through learning which challenges the child and woman in Africa face on their daily lives.
Background check up on work placement had been done to assess whether they are credible to host volunteers.
Volunteers can bring their own equipment like laptop, video camera and other digital items for the documentary program.
You will usually work 40 hours a week, but the weekends are free.
Monday to Wednesday:
08.00 to 16.00hrs - You will visit project sites and do some video filming.
Thursday to Friday:
08.00 to 16.00hrs - You will produce and develop videos with the video material you got from the days before.
Programs start every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, with arrival Sunday prior to the program start at HIA (Harare International Airport).This programs are available all year round.
Upon arrival you will be picked up at the airport and driven to the volunteer house or coordinator’s place.During 1-3 days, depending on the length of your voluntary work, you will get a general briefing. These first days will offer you glimpses into the Shona language, as well as Zimbabwe's various cultures, religions, and local ways of life.
This introduction will be held in Mutare, Harare depending on your work area.
Volunteers are adviced to visit tourist resorts areas and nature sight seeing places like Bvumba Nature Resorts, Botanical Garden and a local museum in the city centre of Mutare.
They can see local scenery and attractive species of local artifacts and paintings at a local museum in Mutare.
Volunteers will be provided with Airport pick-up, an orientation meeting and an initial project visit.
Background checks have been performed on all work placements and accommodation placements by MCT staff to ensure they are credible and capable of hosting volunteers safely and securely.
Volunteers will be provided with 3 meals per day, 7 days per week at the volunteer house or host family.
Coaching is a great way to benefit the youth, while having fun and developing leadership skills yourself.
Help in a community project, working alongside locals and helping counseling and homework for the orphans living in Sakubva Mutare.
For volunteers hoping to learn about shona culture, participating in a Zimbabwean immersion program is the way to go. Your classes will be taught completely in English.
We'd love to hear from volunteers with musical instruments and capabilities to share and play music with our children.
On our business projects you will work alongside experienced professionals as well as less qualified individuals who will benefit from your guidance.
