At your placement in Sakubva and Chikanga in Mutare you will help with organizing creative and physical activities such as arts & crafts, games, basic literacy and numeracy lessons, and songs. Early Childhood Development preschools in Sakubva and Fernvalley will be your main focus. 

The after school program is flexible and can be tailored to your interests and skills. You could play sports like basketball, soccer, and help kids develop their team skills, or start an English conversation club – the options are endless! Whether you are helping children learn to read, playing sports with them, or teaching them a new game, the time and attention you give them will be hugely beneficial. Social development, friendship, and emotional support are the key things you can offer as a volunteer.


Typical day

The volunteers are taking care of children and organizing creative and physical activitiess work from Monday to Friday and have the weekends free to travel and explore.

7.30 am Breakfast
8.00 am Project site visit at local ECD preschool and provide music and stories to children.
8.30 am Visit the less advantaged children and families in local community
12.00 am Project ite prepare lunch meal for the less priviledged children.
13.00 pm Lunch
14.00 pm Taking care of children and organizing creative and physical activities 
15.00 pm You can work one-on-one with individual students or with small group for an after school program that provides extra care and education for children attending the school.
16.00 pm Departs to host accommodation


Details on Arrival

THE PROGRAM
Programs start every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, with arrival Sunday prior to the program start at HIA (Harare International Airport).This programs are available all year round.
Upon arrival you will be picked up at the airport and driven to the volunteer house or coordinator’s place.During 1-3 days, depending on the length of your voluntary work, you will get a general briefing. These first days will offer you glimpses into the Shona  language, as well as Zimbabwe's various cultures, religions, and local ways of life.
This introduction will be held in Mutare, Harare  depending on your work area.

Free-time activities

Volunteers can visit neighboring nature resorts like Bvumba Botanical Garden and Inyati Eco Game Reserve .Volunteer can visit a local l swimming pool in Mutare.

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (basic level) and English (basic level)

No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Other Skills
This is suitable for short term volunteering for both the host community and the volunteer. Although you will gain a valuable cultural insight and work intensely within the local community please be aware that you may not be able to make the same impact as someone volunteering for a longer period. You need to have passion and flexibility to adapting new environment.
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 - 16:00

Airport Pickup at Harare International Airport

We will pick volunteers at the Harare lnternational Airport to Mutare.

Accommodation

We will provide comfortable and friendly accommodation at a volunteer house or home stay with a host family.

We will provide 3 meals per day, 7 days per week at the volunteer house or host family.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Harare International Airport (HRE) in Harare. We assist you to find cheap flights to Zimbabwe.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Zimbabwe provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Zimbabwe you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Zimbabwe.

You can volunteer at the project site in Mutare/Zimbabwe between 4 weeks and 4 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Musha Care Foundation will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in Zimbabwe.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Musha Care Foundation during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
