Oblige for Vulnerable Children

Education Supporter for Children and Caregivers

Singida, Tanzania

The program is to Educate the Children with Caregivers and Teach at Schools. The volunteers would know Child's Rights, Health, Nutrition,Life Skills, English and Science

Background:

The volunteers program is about Educating the children with their caregivers around the villages about Child's Rights, Health, Nutrition and Life Skills and also to Teach English, Mathematics and Science at Schools which are near around. The program is important because the children and the caregivers are lacking of knowledge about Child's Rights, Health, Nutrition and Life Skills for 75 ;; even at schools the program is important because there are few teachers qualified for English lesson and for the Science lessons.

So, we are facing Child's and Mature Malnutrition among the community and face other infectious diseases. We try to solve the problems by welcoming volunteers to put their effort in decreasing the percentage from 75% of illiteracy to 35% percent.

Volunteer Works:

The program is about to Educate the children with their caregivers about Health, Child's Rights, Nutrition and Life Skills around the villages where the volunteers will have sessions to education. Also the volunteers will have sessions at Schools to teach English, Mathematics and Science.

The villages are located in Ikungi District area, and they are surrounding Puma a small town eastward, southward, northward and westward. Volunteers would enjoy educating the children with the caregivers  in these villages and  and experience cultures and local language too.

The Co-workers:

The volunteers will be working with the organization team members shifting. The organization members will be shifting to go to the villages with the volunteers and also to escort the volunteers to schools for teaching. The teachers at schools will friendly be close to the volunteers for any assistance the volunteers would need.

Expectations:

We expect the volunteers to come with cold clothes in May, June and beginning of July, but in August to November is a hot season. They should not carry mosquitoes nets, blankets, sheets, towels, sandals and other utensils, we have these for them to use.The volunteers expect from us a wonderful reception of dancing, eating, enjoying and celebrating together on first arriving  day ; and more wonderful warmly welcome in their whole staying. The volunteers would not come with special equipment.

The volunteers can learn local languages and cultures through this  by talking with the children, caregivers and the other people they meet.

On Saturday

The volunteers have a free day or holiday, so they are free to choose to visit somewhere they would like. For example they can decide to visit at some attractive huge rocks and climb, visit at some market days, visit any family or friends that already they obtain. Play football, netball, visiting clubs, enjoying sitting somewhere having the soft drinks. The volunteers also can decide to visit our regional capital town which is not far from the place they will be staying, they can enjoy different of kinds of things they can see.

So the whole day of Saturday will be free for the volunteers to do any thing good they like, but being accompanying with the mentors.

On Sunday

The volunteers will have also a holiday, they can choose whether to visit or attend church services if they would like, or they can chose to walk a little bit short distances for studying the environment, play football, netball, handball and the other different kinds of the games.

Together  with the mentors, the volunteers can be hosted by an organization member at his or her village and the volunteers know the other geography of that village in adding their knowledge capacity.

Details on Arrival

The volunteers have to join our program from May, June, July, August, September, October and November. They can arrive at any day and the organization members, one or two will pick-up the volunteers at the Airport.

In these days of these months, it will be a summer season in our region, so the volunteers will have a lot of time to do their volunteering program instead of the Winter Months in which some days or weeks will be with may be a lot of rain so that it will stop the volunteers to travel to the villages together with the organization team members for the training. Also the trainees will have no tome to come together for training in case of the raining.

So , the OVCT organization has prefers the summer season for the volunteers to come and have a lot of time to enjoy their volunteering program.

In this season, summer season is also a suitable season for the tourism, many tours like to use summer seasons in Tanzania to visit our country National Parks such as Ngorongoro National Park, Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park  and even visit Kilimanjaro Mountain which is the highest mountain in Africa.

During the summer season, even the villagers have a time to do other activities out of digging their little farms which they dig almost during the whole winter season.

These are some of the reasons why OVCT organization has found that are reasonable   for the volunteers to come and visit us in the months of summer season.

Free-time activities

The volunteer will have a free time to visit at the attractive rocks, playing football ,playing netball, walking little bit short distances for practice,
attend church, mosques services on their willingness, visit different families, visit OVCT members homes, visiting Singoda town (the capital town of Singida region which is near the place where the volunteers will be staying, etc.
