Elderly Care Home Volunteer

Support the nursing staff, cooking and food distribution, organize activities and projects for seniors, talk with the residents

Many older people in Chile cannot afford to live independently and they do not have other family members to help with the cost of living. This means that for the majority of older people care centers have become there last resort. These centres offer elderly people a pleasant life to fill their spare time. Some of these centers are funded by religious charities and others are funded just from donations, volunteers are very welcome at these centers so they can support the needs of the elderly people and improve the program.

Being a volunteer at one of these centers means you care about the well being of seniors who come from humble backgrounds. These centers strive on creating a family type atmosphere for the elderly focused on helpfulness, warmth and appreciation. The christian religion is practiced openly by most of the institutions.

For this role you should be a very dedicated individual able to take responsibilities and also work independently. Each senior has different needs that need to be cared for. Some seniors are very independent while others need help all day long.
