The project

For this volunteer project you will be given the chance to teach at a primary school located in the beautiful surroundings of Huancayo. The rural schools lack teachers, therefore the help of volunteers is very crucial to support the education system. The children you will be teaching are girls and boys between the ages of 6 to 12 years. 

The work of the volunteers it makes it possible to offer the children further education which means more possibilities for them in later life, with courses such a computer, English and art all taught by volunteers. 

Your work 

During this project you will be working as an assistant teacher in a rural school near Huancayo. You will be teaching children in one or two subjects but this depends on your abilities and background. 

Usually volunteers teach basic english and one other subject such as art or computer courses. There is the opportunity to teach other subjects depending on your abilities and interests. You will be responsible for the preparation of your lessons so if you have any new ideas or suggestions feel free to say, a lot of volunteers bring in materials to make the lessons more interesting and interactive. 

On a typical day: you will teach the children the lessons you have chosen, you will also be given time to prepare lessons, you will also play with the children.

In this project you will live with a host family in either a single private bedroom or a double bedroom which you share with another volunteer. Staying with a host family allows you to indulge in the culture while it also increases your spanish skills. Some guest families have wifi.

You can volunteer at the project site in Huancayo/Peru between 4 weeks and 25 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. South America Inside will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with South America Inside during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
