English Teacher

English teachers plan and lead two 2-hr classes per week for 4 weeks or more in the Oaxacan communities where we work.

Volunteer English teachers commit to teaching two afternoons a week either in Tlacochahuaya or Teotitlán del Valle. Volunteers tasks are to plan dynamic and active lessons based on the class curriculum provided by the organization. We provide teaching materials, printer/copier, training and any support needed during the volunteer's stay. No teaching experience is necessary. In both locations we teach in the Municipio buildings which are an indoor/outdoor space. There are whiteboards, pens, tables, chairs and some teaching materials in the communities but any additional materials have to be carried to and from the office.

Volunteers work with students in groups of 2-10. The students are mostly youth that range in age from 6-16, but there is a small group of adult learners as well. There are a range of different abilities, but most students are beginners.

To get to both communities, we travel as a group on public transportation which generally takes about an hour in each direction. This is the only cost associated with volunteering, the cost is between 25-30 pesos round-trip.

Join us today! We are currently recruiting teachers for our English program. We welcome teachers at all times of the year, if you are not available at the moment but further in the future, please get in touch. We also host internships and can complete any paperwork required by your college/university.
