This organization was founded in 2004 with the main objective being to protect and maintain the forests and integrate local communities into the project. The organization continues to develop many different protection programs of plants and animals, with one of its major projects being to protect the Chilean Huemel which is a rare species of deer. In the last 10 years the number of huemels has growen from 2 to 15 in the area.
The project also runs a very successful eco hotel which attracts a host of tourists from all over the world. There are around 40 employees in the organization between 19 and 45 years old with mainly local people working there.
The project has also been given international recognation from the famous World Legacy Awards of the National Geographic rewarded the project’s achievements with the first place in 2015 among 150 destinations in 56 countries.
Volunteers are very important to this project because they are needed to assist in guiding tourists, to educate local people on the importance of conservation and to help with the endangerd deers.
There are many different tasks for workers to be involved in, on a typical day you will be: helping in the organic gardens, reforestation work, educational program with guests and local people, helping the staff at the breeding station (just possible for maleparticipants who stay at least 2 month).
For people with less strength there are tasks such as: helping in the cafeteria, assisting as tour guides, marketing and developing international relations tasks.
There are a variety of different activities to choose from in your spare time such as sports with the local community, while a lot of volunteers go and hike the reserve and surrounding areas taking in its great views.
Airport pick up in Santiago and transfer to our office or accomodation in Santiago, before you continue your travel to the project.
Volunteers will live in the volunteer house close to the village Neltume. The volunteer house has dormitories and is equipped with a kitchen and bathrooms, there is wifi but it can sometimes go off. This is a great experience to meet new people and friends
