Environment Conservation Worker

The purpose is to help these ethnic populations to acquire the knowledge and skills and to protect the environment.


Ta Van in Sapa (Lao Cai province) is a poor mountain districts in Northern Vietnam. Almost all of the local population are ethnic people, who are semi-illiterate, and lack education. Most of these people are farmers with very low income, are living in difficult conditions.

The ecosystem is valuable and it is important to preserve it. Sapa is visited by many tourists for its nature and the ethnics groups live from the agriculture, the resources of nature.

Waste management is as important for the health of the population as it is for the tourist attraction. Helping people to classify waste is important for the environmental protection and the sustainable development.

Raising awareness about environmental protection in Ta Van village enable to preserve nature for the future generations and allow the population to live in a healthy environment.


With the purpose of helping these ethnic populations acquire the knowledge and skills needed for their future and to protect the environment, CVTD is implementing a sustainable development program in Ta Van village. The program aims at raise awareness on the ecosystem, teach locals to take care of their wastes, sensitize about hygiene and asbestos that are known to cause serious health hazards in humans.


Prepare and teach to raise awareness to the population about waste and ecosystem. 

Create campaigns of cleaning the villages by mobilizing young ethnic people of the region to teach them to respect nature and raise awareness about wastes.

Raise awareness about Asbestos that are known to cause serious health hazards in humans.

Raise awareness about the importance of clean kitchen and houses for the heath of the populations.


Furnished comfortable accommodation at the Volunteer House, including a shared kitchen and Internet capabilities.Residential registration and working visa extension.Vietnamese lessons can be offered on request.Opportunities to discovery special cultural areas for free in every weekend.Volunteer will be provided with sufficient and well-arranged working facilities, including a computer with Internet access, a shared printer and many helpful and friendly colleagues.

Typical day

The volunteer will work 5 days a week, 5 hours per day.

Taking part in our program, volunteers will:
  • Coordinate activities about the importance of environmental protection
  • Sensitize the population about the implications of waste on tourism and health
  • Collaborate with experts to prepare lessons about waste and environment
  • Make people exchange good practises
  • Give feedback and recommendation about the results obtained

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s). Of course, there is an exception for children that are accompanied by their parents.

You need to speak English (fluently)

Fully fluent in English and have excellent pronunciation and communication skills with English as a second language
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Free-time activities

We have city-tour and culture exchange activities between volunteer, staff and local people every weekend. 
The Volunteers will have time to experience local food, trekkings,  cultural exchange and travel around through interaction with the local people.

We always ensure that our volunteers have a lot of free time during which they can travel to other parts of Vietnam. You will have many opportunities to experience Vietnamese culture and to do all the tourist things you would like to do.

Volunteer service includes the following:

  • Accommodation: Volunteers will be living in the CVTD’s volunteer house/homestay in Ta Van village, Sapa, that is some nice landscapes in Vietnam.
  • Meals: Two meals per day (Lunch and dinner). We do not supply breakfast, but we have full kitchen facilities which you are free to use.
  • Airport pick-up / drop-off at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi to CVTD’s volunteer house in Hanoi.
  • CVTD’s staff is available 24/7 by Online/Telephone or in person to support and guide you. It is extremely safe in Vietnam and there is really nothing to concern about.
Airport Pickup at Noibai International

We will pick you up at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi as per your flight details. Our Ms. Lan from CVTD will be waiting for you outside the airport building. As you exit the door, you will see a column on your right just before the cubicle where passengers can book a taxi. She will be standing next to the column holding a placard ‘CVTD WELCOMES ……………….” Flight you up at that time at Noi Bai Airport.

CVTD Volunteer House is located in Ta Van village (Sapa) on a hill with a wonderful view on the landscapes all around. Volunteers will share 2 rooms (4 people each room) and will have free access to the SPA located at the ground floor (steam bath, hydromassage and a Jacuzzi). A wide garden surrounds the guesthouse.

Two meals per day. We do not supply breakfast, but we have full kitchen facilities which are free to use.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.

You can volunteer at the project site in Ta Van Village, Sapa/Viet Nam between 2 weeks and 50 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. CVTD Viet Nam will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment must be made up to 30 days before to the volunteer program starts. This payment is also securely handled by PayPal or credit card.
