Ever heard of the Simeulue Island of Indonesia? This particular island is a small rustic yet charmingly simple berth and is estimated to be about 150-155 kilometers away from the mainland Sumatra and is situated in a remote area of the Aceh Province of Indonesia. Have you ever dreamed of visiting Indonesia or Volunteering? Then come fulfill that dream and do both at our Island Conservation project located on the Simeulue Island of Indonesia!

During the year of 2004, Simeulue experienced a drastic change of landscape due to a Tsunami. The destructions made by the tsunami was devastating which resulted in the destruction of homes and infrastructures and was classified a global concern. The funding and resources that the island once received is no longer being provided to assist them. Therefore, the project is great need of your help!
Some of the main conservative goals of the project is promoting responsible land use planning, avoiding the loss of primary forest, transitioning the island to renewable energy sources, preventing bird poaching and unsustainable fishing. Come be a part of the team and volunteer at this amazing project! The minimum duration offered is 2 weeks and the maximum duration is 4, however, we can extend your stay if you so desire!

The Project is located in Simeulue Island, Indonesia which is 150 Km from the mainland Sumatra and is remotely situated within the Aceh Province in Indonesia. Have fun exploring this beautiful and untamed island and be a part of an amazing Indonesian experience.

All volunteers will be accommodated in ‘Tsunami Houses’ or better known as Bungalows located at the Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort with rooms that are in dormitory style. Volunteers are therefore allowed to share a room with one or two other volunteers. There’s a fan, twin beds and shared bathroom/shower for your perusal as well. There is also the common area known as the ‘Joglo’ where you would be able to have access to books, table tennis, board games, cards, internet and there’s even a projector for movie nights! Please note that you are responsible for keeping sleeping area/room tidy and your own laundry.

You will be volunteering alongside other international volunteers as well as experienced local staff who will train and guide you through your experience. No specific skills or requirements are required though it would be important to be reliable, responsible, honest, good sense of humor, dependable, physically and mentally fit.
