Run fun football coaching sessions for kids and help our teams deliver important life messages. You will also get to play football against the locals.
Join our teams to help deliver sports sessions to kids. We do this in a number of sports as part of our mass participation programme, bringing as many kids together to have fun but also learn new skills in a structured environment. You will also help us identify kids with particular talent so they can be invited to a school of excellence programme helping them reach their full potential in sport and education.
We also put our kids through school so there are a range of teaching opportunities available in various subjects.
As a coach in Ghana, you will have the responsibility of running and supervising all training and matches for your club team. This may sound daunting, but you will soon realise that you have an understanding of football that the young players are desperate to have. The rewards are great because the raw talent is there but the experience of a team structure is not. By introducing the basics of team play, movement and position holding, your club team will develop rapidly. Furthermore, volunteers are not left alone and you will work alongside our in-country team and local coaches as well as the other volunteers. You will also see that the competition between the volunteers can also get very passionate! However, whether its complicated technical plays or morning beach runs, you will soon develop your own coaching programme unique to you and your players. In some cases, if you have sufficient football coaching qualifications and experience, you may be given sole responsibility of managing your own local football team. You may also be asked to train local coaches and help them improve their football coaching skills.
Optional Teaching in Ghana
In addition to your coaching role, you will have the opportunity to teach classes, or assist in teaching classes, in one of the sports academies or schools based in Accra. This will give you another impacting experience while allowing you to make a difference outside the world of sport. With a western education, you will be able to contribute massively to the standard of tuition that the students receive. Subject areas include English (language and literature), math, science, journalism, business, IT, RE and a whole variety of extra-curricular activities.
Other Options in Ghana
It is likely that there will be a whole variety of other activities you can get involved with while you are away. Because we have focused in-country teams, they will be able to inform you of other opportunities both inside and outside the capital. This gives you a unique chance to combine projects and experience the country in a whole variety of ways.
The main aim with this project is to bring kids together and give them further opportunities to play in a structured and friendly environment. We also use our coaching sessions to invite kids to our after school programme where we improve education, raise health awareness and build life-skills. Sport for us is a powerful tool to teach kids important messages and we need your help to help us reach our goals.
In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s).
