Volunteer to assist in a rewarding program caring for giant pandas in China. Help make a real impact in saving this endangered species by working under top trainers.
The China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) has worked for over 20 years to preserve the panda population, with some of the best current panda birth and survival rates in the world. Volunteers are needed to assist in safeguarding the future of these most captivating animals. They will take part in a structured program which includes training on the care of pandas and will be assigned as an assistant to a trainer. As part of the program, volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate in Chinese lessons, dumplings cooking lesson, Chinese chess and Mahjong!
The program for volunteers coming for 1 week is Sunday to Saturday. You will meet in Chengdu on Sunday, and spend a couple of days exploring the city. You will then be driven to the Panda Reserve on Tuesday. On Saturday you will be driven back to either Chegdu or to the airport. Volunteers coming for more than a week, also spend the first 2 days in Chengdu, and then stay at the reserve until their last day on the program.
Past volunteers have enjoyed the following activities that this amazing area has to offer (not included in program cost, but the volunteer coordinators would be happy to help arrange these for you):

Mount Qingcheng is one of the most famous Taoist mountains in China
Explore the city of Ya'an for shopping and general sight seeing

For the first two nights in Chengdu volunteers will stay at a hostel in a shared room. Each volunteer will share a room with another volunteer. All rooms have electric blankets for the Winter months and an attached bathroom with 24 hour hot water (Asian style toilets). Laundry service and free Wi-Fi are available.
Three meals a day are provided by the hostel restaurant. The food is made up of typical Chinese cuisine, consisting of rice, vegetables, noodles, and some meat. Please note that food is not provided on arrival day.
