Volunteers are needed to design, manage, and implement health training and/or outreach programs in our local community.
About us
Helps International (HINT) has run health outreach programs in the past, thanks to the work of volunteers experienced in the medical profession. HINT does not offer permanent health or medical programs, but instead relies on the support of volunteers to host short-term training programs. Historically, most of HINT's programs have focused on HIV/AIDS prevention, as it remains a critical problem in Cameroon. It is estimated that 5.4% of the population of Cameroon is HIV positive. That represents approximately 510,000 people, 43,000 of whom are children. Roughly 240,000 children are orphaned in Cameroon due to AIDS.

Buea is located on Mount Cameroon, an active volcano that can be hiked at any time of the year. Buea is a university town, home to many schools of higher education, including the University of Buea, considered the best public university in the country.
For additional activities, Doula, the main economic hub of Cameroon, is approx. one hour by car. Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, is approx. five hours by car (less by train).
Accommodations in a family home, three meals per day, volunteer pickupand drop off at the airport, and any other incidentals (medicine, toilet paper, bedding, etc.) are included in the fee.
You will be picked up from Douala airport (DLA) by someone from HINT and transported to Buea (1 hour from Douala). When leaving, you will also be transported to the airport.
The volunteer has his/her own room in the family house with his/her own bathroom (unless the bathroom were shared with another
volunteer). The bedrooms provided include at least a bed, bedding and
