Help Protect Forests in Chile

Protect forests with park rangers, work in bio-gardens, and assist with excursions in Chile! Help preserve the precious environment!

The Project

The organization that this project works through was founded in 2004. Its main objective is to protect and maintain the forests while integrating local communities into the project. The organization continues to develop many different programs that aim to protect plants and animals. One of its major projects works to protect Chilean Huemel, which is a rare species of deer. Over the past 10 years, the number of Huemels has grown from 2 to 15 in the area.

The organization also runs a very successful ecohotel, which attracts a host of tourists from all over the world. There are around 40 employees at the organization, between the ages of 19 and 45. Most of the employees are locals.

The organization has been given international recognition through the famous World Legacy Awards by National Geographic. They were given an award due to their project’s achievements, and came in first place in 2015 out of 150 destinations in 56 countries.

Your Tasks

Volunteers are very important to this project because they are needed to assist with guiding tourists, educating local people on the importance of conservation, and helping with the endangered deer.

As a volunteer, there is a wide variety of tasks where you can offer your assistance. On a typical day, you might: help in the organic gardens, carry out reforestation work, help provide educational programs for guests and locals, help the staff at the breeding station (only possible for male participants who stay at least 2 months).

For people with less strength, there are tasks such as helping in the cafeteria, assisting tour guides, marketing, and developing international relations.
