This program is for children and students who did not perform well in the previous school year or are want to prepare for their subjects before the academic year begins
Hope Foundation runs a holiday school and cultural exchange program during the summer months, for those children and students from every background of the society who did not perform well in the previous school year or those willing to gain insight and knowledge in subjects ahead of the upcoming school year.
The objective of this program is that all those children and students have the chance to benefit from the know-how and skills of our international volunteers. Due to the success of the last year’s project, we are very glad to organize it again and count with the help of a group of volunteers who will have the opportunity to interact with children over various important topics and subjects.
With the support of the volunteers, the students will widen their knowledge and way of thinking, enable them identify a number of mistakes which were done during the previous school year and at the same time making them learn in a more friendly and flexible way.
Taking part in this extraordinary program you will be involved in many amazing experiences with other international volunteers and Cameroonian people, besides you will change the lives of many children in Bertoua. Do not hesitate and apply for volunteering, Bertoua is waiting for you!
Volunteers should be highly motivated and they should have knowledge of at least one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Literature, English & French Literature or Geography and also knowledge of some extracurricular activities such as music, photography, computer training, design, arts and culture.
It is recommendable to prepare some small goodies and sweeties, books, souvenirs, token for the students when preparing to come to Cameroon. You can use them in intercultural workshops.
On a typical day, volunteers will act as a tutor/teacher during the day, while in the afternoon some of the kids together with the local community will participate in various football games under our Footbal 4 Life program.
Weekends can be spent exploring, sightseeing, relaxing, and hanging out with other volunteers or newly made friends! The local children like to play with volunteers after working hours too, usually!
Hope Foundation is an organization with limited financial resources; therefore, we require that each volunteer covers the cost of living during their stay in Cameroon, which we can arrange for both safety and comfort.
In addition to arranging accommodation, Hope Foundation picks up and drops off volunteers from the airport, and provides three healthy meals a day for volunteers. All volunteers receive a free T-Shirt. In the past ten years of receiving volunteers, this has proven to be both the easiest and most affordable way for volunteers to join us in Cameroon!
To enable us to easily prepare for the arrival of our volunteers, Hope
Foundation asks for a deposit of 50% of the total amount prior to arrival of
A Hope Foundation staff member will pick up volunteers directly from the airport. From there, it is about a 6 hour journey.
The types of accommodation vary from one project to the next and from one location to another. A high amount of flexibility is expected from volunteers at this juncture where living conditions are not always the same as from their home countries. Volunteers coming in groups usually live together in shared accommodations while individuals stay with host families, a culturally immersive experience which allows volunteers to integrate into the local Cameroonian community through food, dance, music, dressing, and general lifestyle!
Detailed information about the project including map (s) / photos, helpful links, will be available and sent to applicants by email.
