Ever dreamt of becoming a volunteer and working towards a worthwhile cause? Then how about making that dream a reality by joining us? Take up this amazing opportunity to venture to the beautiful state of Idaho and care for orphaned, sick, injured and neglected horses!

These amazing creatures are in deep need of your help! Volunteer now for a minimum duration of 4 weeks and care for the horses! Though you have lots of spare time to engage in fun activities such as horse riding, it is important to remember that you are here to help wherever assistance is needed! The work with the horses may not be hard but it isn’t easy as well and should not be considered an ‘easy holiday option’. You will be involved in animal care, food preparation, cleaning, maintenance and educating the public.

Apart from the horse rescue center, the founder also partners with another wildlife rehab facility that’s close by and as a bonus, volunteers will also be able to help from time to time. At the facility, you’ll not only be working with horses but with a wide range of other wildlife such as; raccoons, deer, geese, birds, etc.!

Typical day

Volunteers play a key role in assisting the project with its objectives and as such, your main tasks will mainly consist out of the following but are not limited to:

  • Taking care of the horse
  • Maintenance of the property
  • Gear repair
  • Washing gear
  • Repairing and building fences
  • Brushing the horse
  • Caring for sick injured horses
  • Haying
  • Cleaning stables
  • Construction

Details on Arrival

This project has no specific start dates. Spots are available year-round however, try to book early in advance to be assured of a volunteer placement. Please take into consideration that the project prefers applicants start on a Monday!

Free-time activities

On days off volunteers have the opportunity to go sightseeing, horse riding, hiking and so much more! It is important to remember that any leisure time activity outside of the project will be at the volunteers' own expense

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (intermediate level)
Required Documents
CV, Resume, Letter of Motivation, Two pics and Signed Policies and Liability Form.
Nationality Restrictions
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 - 16:00

Airport Pickup at Moscow Regional Airport

You will need to fly to Pullman / Moscow Regional Airport. Upon your arrival, you will be met by someone from the project. You’ll then be transferred to your accommodation on the project site.

Accommodation

Volunteers will be living in shared rooms in an apartment on site of the ranch. There is also a kitchen and living area. Laundry services will be provided. Wireless internet and transportation will be provided as well. Things like plates, glasses, pots and pans, bedding, bath towels, etc. will be present at the guest house so you will not need to bring anything of that nature.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Moscow Regional Airport (PUW) in Pullman. We assist you to find cheap flights to United States of America.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for United States of America provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in United States of America you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for United States of America.

You can volunteer at the project site in Moscow/United States of America between 4 weeks and 10 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Fronteering Travel will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in United States of America.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Fronteering Travel during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or cash at arrival at the project site.
