Kindergarten Teacher

Assistance during lessons, teaching English, computer classes, homework help, entertain students during breaks

The project

Education is free in Guatemala but this is still a struggle for families as they cannot afford the transport too school or the materials needed to attend school.

The aim of this project is to give children from poor families new prospects, through the help and commitment of many partners. There has been a huge development in the community structure which includes a pre- and primary school education, career programs, hot meals in schools and kindergartens, medical care, clothing, and access to sports and leisure activities.

In usual schools, the mornings are filled with lessons, while in the afternoon activities range from homework help and creative leisure activities. Older students are motivated to learn English, acquire knowledge in computer programs or to do sports. Students receive fruits, snacks and lunch.

In regions with high poverty rates of criminality are higher, Education is the best way to prevent criminality and to improve the community. By joining this program you will be helping improve the community and also the lives of families significantly.

Your Work

On a typical working day you will be: assisting teachers in classes, correct homework and review books, help students during computer tasks, help with creating projects for classes.

In the afternoon, it is important to provide valuable educational activities to the kids to promote their talents and creativity and keep them away from the street. You will also be asked to teach English, give computer courses, help with homework, paint, dance, sing, do decorative crafts with recycled materials, play football or promote other sporting pursuits.
