Volunteering as a Kitchen Assistant will be a great way to enhance your cooking skills and you will want to remind yourself to make time each month to plan around your busy schedule to help out at this project.
Volunteers will work with our chef here, also together with teachers.They help in going to the market to buy food, prepare it for cooking, Cooking, serving the children, feeding the toddlers and washing utensils.
The program involves men and women, young and old.
The working surrounding is very nice since the teachers and the chef are very cooperative and helpful.The volunteer will be working with both on the daily basis.
Volunteers report at the project every morning at 8.30 am from Monday to Friday. They prepare food to cook. When the food is ready they serve it and wash utencils. Breakfast is served at 10 am and Lunch at 1 pm.
This program is available all year.The volunteer may arrive one day before the set start dates.
Kenya holds a huge population from different tribes. Kenya has 42 tribes and the same ethnic laguages. All the 42 tribes come to Nairobi to look for jobs, do business, and also get academics besides others. This is why Noirobi is the centre for many things.
Things to do & places to visit:
All these are best places which attracts a lot of people in Kenya and volunteers can choose to visit these places after volunteering period or before or during weekends.
Volunteers stay in a guest family and share a room with another volunteer or a family member or can stay alone in a room. Bathrooms and toilets are shared.
The host family will provide food and beverages and not alcohols.
Volunteers will take part in physical activities with children and they will think of areas to train them in.
Here you will offer knowledge to students as a classroom resource on varied school subjects.
