The centre was designed to provided first class education. The children are taught according to the principle of creative learning.
Education in Tanzania can't be compared to what we know from home. Often children get corporal punished and creativity and independent thinking are not encouraged. That's why this learning center was established. Two Tanzanian women wanted to give their children a better education according to the principles of creative learning. In this learning centre about 30 children aged one and a half to five
years are taken care by five professionals. The nursery school is a very
new establishment that opened its doors on April 2015.
The daycare is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The exact duration of work will be discussed individually. You will play with the children, speak English and help them with their daily routine. That means for example, teach them to tie their shoes, etc. Furthermore, you will conduct educational games, reading books, singing and leading their activities.
Generally, this project is open to everybody who has some experience with child care. This can be through taking care of younger siblings, babysitting, leading of youth groups etc. If you are a trained educator or teachers you could also be active in the training of the local professionals.
Your day starts in the morning at 8:00 am. The children arrive and you will play with them. After some time the children get seperated according to their age and skills. You will support the care taker and teacher in educating the children in basic skills like mathematics, English, writing and reading. In general you will play with the children, speak
English and help them with their daily routine. That means for example,
teach them to tie their shoes, etc. Furthermore, you will conduct
educational games, reading books, singing and leading their activities.
Depending on what's discussed you leave after lunch or stay untill the day care closes at 5:00 pm.
