About the program

In Costa Rica it is known that for local, rural schools the Ministry of Education does very little to of help due to low enrollment. It is for this reason that these schools are in need of motivated and ambitious volunteers.

These schools have many needs, some of them resulting in the lack of support they are receiving from the Government, hence there are many ways in which the school can be helped and supported

Amongst others, our goals for this project and its school are to create an area of 4m x 4m that needs to be constructed so students with learning disabilities can attend the school with their own facilities for learning and moving. Furthermore, the school is in need of sports equipment such as footballs, basketballs, tennis rackets, skipping/jump ropes and plastic cones. For this we need to organise and hold fundraisers. As well as we need financial support for sports equipment, the dining room is in need of new tables and chairs as the children have outgrown them and the quality since has deteriorated.

The program is located in Escazu town and in Guanacaste Area, at a 5 minutes walk from the beach.

VOLUNTEER NOW COSTA RICA is located in Escazu and Guanacaste, San Jose, Costa Rica. This is a family company that has been around since 2004 and enlisted the aid of hundreds of volunteers from all over the world, which come to our country to work on the ecological and social projects our company offers.

The further you have to travel to get here and the more eager you are to participate and learn about our great history and culture, the more we at Hospedaje Casa Escazu will appreciate and love you for your commitment to being the change in our great country. At the same time we want to dramatically increase the quality of life for the local citizens and protect the natural beauty that in its self makes Costa Rica, the unique and enchanting place that it is.

The staff was amazing and made you feel welcomed at all times. They tried to do what’s best for the animals with the budget they have. It was just a bit sad to see some animals in pretty small cages. But also as I said, they did what they could with the budget. My favourite task was when we got to ...
