Our Mission at ETIV do Brasil is support environmental conservation and development in Brazil by connecting volunteers and interns with local communities. 


ETIV do Brasil is looking for dedicated volunteers or interns to support our Marketing and Recruitment work in beautiful Itacaré, Bahia, Brazil. These volunteers or interns will be responsible for leading our overall marketing strategy as we promote our organization and our volunteer opportunities on a wide variety of social media sites, volunteer recruitment websites and on different internship and job boards. In addition, our marketing coordinator is also expected to help us build partnerships with more colleges and universities to market our opportunities in their volunteer and internship databases as well as in their newsletters or other publications. The main goal of this position is to help the NGO recruit more volunteers and interns to support both our local community projects and our administrative work.                                     

Our Marketing and Recruitment volunteers and interns will receive ongoing training, supervision and guidance from the director and/or the Operations Manager, while he or she will also gain a great deal of knowledge about NGO administration. Meanwhile, volunteers and interns that can commit at least 3 months to this work can lead the project by becoming our Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator. Coordinators are also responsible for training, supervising and supporting any other volunteers or interns that may become engaged in marketing, recruitment or social media work. This includes our team of virtual volunteers and interns that participate in weekly marketing and recruitment meetings. Volunteers or Interns can also fulfill this position virtually from home, completely free of charge. As regional outreach coordinators, virtual volunteers are also expected to help promote the NGO at home and in local schools, universities and communities.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop content and track results from a wide variety of recruitment sites and our university outreach

Measure and track performance of the marketing and recruitment strategy

Provide recommendations for new strategies and initiatives for improved marketing and recruitment

Maintain and continuously update the Marketing and Recruitment Manual and our Record of Progress

Coordinate and/or support our entire Marketing and Recruitment team

Create weekly agendas and send notes, updates and commitment reminders to other team members

Work closely with our Communications and Social Media team

To further develop our marketing and recruitment guide and to keep the guide and the project description updated on our website, especially prior to leaving the position.


Coordinators must work at least 25 hours per week

Volunteers must work at least 20 hours per week

Basic Portuguese

Minimum 3-month time commitment for coordinators

Minimum 1-month time commitment for volunteers

Knowledge of Marketing and Recruitment

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines

Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs and google drive

Basic video editing (preferred, but not required)

Support with the website (preferred but not required)

Typical day

Volunteers work at least 4 hours day/20 hours a week, usually most office hours are Monday – Friday from 9am to 1pm.

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
Language Skills
You need to speak English (fluently) and Portuguese (basic level)

We do offer housing at our ETIV Volunteer House, which overlooks the beautiful river Contas in the Passagem neighborhood of Itacare. Rental prices at the volunteer house include all bills including gas, water, electricity, and WiFi as well as filtered drinking water, toilet paper and hand soap. There is also a shared kitchen with a large stove and refrigerator/freezer that comes complete with pots and pans, cups, plates, bowls and silverware. However, there is not a washing machine and volunteers are expected to hand wash or they must pay to get their laundry done in town. 


Rooms are subject to a $250 (USD) deposit, which is fully refundable as long as you fulfill all of the requirements stated in your rental agreement.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either. Please arrange your own accommodation. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Ilheus/Bahia-Jorge Amado Airport (IOS) in Ilheus. We assist you to find cheap flights to Brazil.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Brazil provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Brazil you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Brazil.

Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in Brazil.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with ETIV do Brasil during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
