Marketing Coordinator

Assisting with development and implementation of direct marketing solicitations including online/offline marketing.

All of our HELP Coordinator positions are higher-level volunteer positions for volunteers with strong leadership skills. As a Marketing Coordinator you will ensure that Otra Cosa Network is able to maximise volunteer recruitment, as well as help with the management of both our online and local presence. This is a really key role, as without this work, we would struggle both to find volunteers for our projects and to communicate effectively with our supporters and the local community. 

Volunteer Roles/ Working Hours

  • Assisting with development and implementation of direct marketing solicitations and membership mailings
  • Managing online marketing, including social media (recruitment websites, facebook, twitter, Instagram, youtube)
  • Managing the blog, collecting one entry per week from fellow volunteers or writing the entries yourself
  • Managing SEO
  • Managing offline marketing, such as updating flyers, posters, etc
  • Assisting with production of newsletters and other publications
  • Assisting preparing & implementing any OCN events
  • Contacting universities for potential partnerships
  • This position requires 25 hours a week

Volunteer Requirements

  • Spanish Level to Start Project: No Spanish needed
  • Native (or fully fluent) English speaker
  • Time Commitment: Min 3 months
  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and commitment to the cause
  • Excellent communication ability – both written and verbal
  • Research skills
  • Previous experience in marketing or with WordPress is a bonus
  • Creativity and the ability to be proactive are desirable qualities in a volunteer
You will work from the OCN office along with the other Coordinators and permanent members of staff. You will report into the Assistant Manager for Volunteers and Marketing. We are always looking to improve so after you've settled in, we more than welcome new ideas and initiatives.

  • Assisting with development and implementation of direct marketing solicitations and membership mailings
  • Managing online marketing, such as updating Facebook, twitter, press releases, etc
  • Managing offline marketing, such as updating flyers, posters, etc
  • Assisting with production of newsletters and other publications
  • Assisting preparing & implementing any OCN event

Details on Arrival

We have availability for a new Marketing Coordinator from late December 2017 but can take applications for any time slot after that. 

Free-time activities

Huanchaco is a beautiful coast town where the waves are perfect all years long, for all type of surfer. Huanchaco is surrounding by some mountains where is possible to hike, furthermore, Peru have the white mountain range, the cordillera blanca situated in Huaraz have many hiking and climbing possibilities in the most beautiful landscape. You can also try sand boarding in Huanchaco, you be guaranteed to have a good time. 

If you prefer cultural activity, we are few minutes away from the Chan Chan and Huaca del sol y de la luna they are all ruins to discover the magic history of the Inca people. The town of Huanchaco has a gym, otherwise there yoga class and some fields to play basketball and football.

Peru's third largest city, Triujillo, is a 20-30 minute bus ride away. There you can find all the conveniences of a large city; like a mall, cinema, restaurants, bars and clubs.

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 21 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

On-site services

Services by Otra Cosa Network

The OCN payment fee covers Volunteer placement and accommodation arrangement services. It includes:
Collection in Trujillo at the bus station or airport by a member of the OCN team; Introduction to your project, as well as to Huanchaco; Day to day support as and when required; Advice on accommodation options in Trujillo.

Please note that all travel as well as accommodation costs must be paid by the volunteer (in addition to the Volunteer Program Fees).

Airport Pickup at Trujillo Airport

As part of the project fees a representative from OCN will greet you at airport or bus station in Trujillo (with prior notice). We will then take a taxi  (included in fee) to Huanchaco for your induction.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees. Please arrange your own accommodation. Food, snacks or beverages are at extra costs.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Trujillo Airport (TRU) in Trujillo. We assist you to find cheap flights to Peru.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Peru provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Peru you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Peru.

You can volunteer at the project site in Huanchaco/Peru between 12 weeks and 50 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Otra Cosa Network will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in Peru.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with {project.name} during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
