The most spectacular thing about Guatemala is its nature. The countryside is by far the most amazing thing we have ever seen in our lives. Guatemala is beautiful. While travelling, you watch the mountains getting shrouded with misty clouds. It feels as if you are on the National Geographic TV show –the weather’s changing every second as in high-speed shots.
We are living in the jungle, surrounded by trees and bushes. There are banana trees in our garden; hummingbirds are flying around the hospital sipping nectar from the flowers.
We are happy to pick you up at the airport. Travelling time from the airport to our site is approximately 2 hours by car.
Volunteers are living in a house, which is a part of the clinic. There is a kitchen, bathrooms, and a garden. A separate room can be provided for couples.
Typical Guatemalan food is rice, beans, corn, local fruits, and vegetables. You can buy corn flatbread, bananas, eggs, meat, and cheese for 1$ from locals; pre-order is required. You should bring meat and sweets with you or ask your friends and family to ship it to you later.
